Harbor Freight Worth it?

I got a tranny jack, engine stand, and engine hoist/cherry picker 2-ton fold up setup. All 3 are doing good. Engine stand has been thru 2 builds. Motors been in and out of the car several times with the hoist so its working great so far.

Havent bought any power tools from there yet.

i like how all the hand tools are pittsburgh tools. i like all my wrenchs to say the city i’m from

to bad built in china

I have that same jack and couldn’t be happier. It is tight and smooth and pretty low profile. The only negative thing I can think of is the rubber lift pad falls out pretty easy. Some glue will solve that real fast. Also, the texture on the handle holds grease, but that is really nit picking.

I bought a variety of tools so that I had a set of matching tools. My Dad and I share garage space so my tools kept disappearing. I got the whole set so it would stay a whole set and have so far been pleasantly surprised. For less than $250 I got a whole tool box full of a shit load of sockets, wrenches, screw drivers, plyers, and misc adapters. They’re holding up as well as my Craftsman.

Plus, whenever the time comes when a bolt is just a TINY bit too big or too small for a snug fit… try a HF tool - it might be off just the right amount to fit perfect!

For anyone who is interested…

The September issues of Hot Rod, Car Craft, Popular Hot Rodding,
Super Chevy and Chevy High Performance all contain this coupon…

There may be other as well, these I know for sure…

Motor Trend and Auto Week usually have those coupons as well. I got a stack of them in the office.

Sign up for there email alert and they send them to you . I was just out there today to get some wheels and tires for the kids wagon and gave mine to the guy behind me with a cart load of stuff cause I had a different coupon for the tires.

did anyone ever try their sheet metal sheers? i’m thinking about picking a set up.

i have both the air shears and air nibbler. the air nibbler finally wore out but lasted a good while and worth every penny for sheetmetal work

the shear still work but i used the nibbler a lot more since you could cut any shape you want easily and cleanly

Was looking around tonight and saw an english wheel there for like 80 bucks and a plenishing hammer for about the same . They are smaller versions but good enough for home use

I got the Motorcycle Tire changer / Wheel Changer combo for $117 out the door. It works well and is sturdy and I’m able to do side work with it. Changing out my tires once and it paid for it’s self due to what dealerships charge and all the local shops I have delt with in the past have closed up.

I also just got a Tap and Die Set for 12 bucks and it already paid for it’s self since I was able to repair the risers on my motorcycle instead of buying new risers.

got the inline shears, they seem to work well, and a 24 oz framing hamer, only 5 bucks

i got the 5lb sledge with a genuine hickory handle. i love wailing the fuck outta shit with it

bought an air nibbler yesterday to replace my worn out one. works well esp for 30 bucks. don’t use it alot but sure comes in handy when i do need it

sonny has one of their jacks. it works fine. for how long though is yet to be seen.

i have a snap-on jack. there is know way in hell the hf jack will go through the abuse my snappy jack has.

as always, some good stuff can be found there. i know if i go there, i will spend money and numerous times i bought shit just because of a coupon.

i have a harbor freight engine stand and it has been holding my SBC for over a year now

I’ve bought a whole bunch of their impact sockets and a couple air tools (ratchet, grinder) and haven’t had any issues. I generally try to stick to stuff that quality isn’t too important on, like a previous poster said, I don’t think I’d buy any meters or anything from them… They have nitrile gloves pretty cheap too.

Also, I don’t abuse my tools that much (or even use them much at all, as of late :frowning: ), so I can’t speak much to the durability. They “just work”.
