A friend of mine has a CA that is very likely on it’s way out. Sounds like rod knock.
Anyway, I’m just wondering approx. what the cost is to rebuild a CA18DET. The engine will be out of the car so it’s just a tear down of the long block, rebuild, re-gasket, and re-assemble.
Also who in Edmonton is qualified to do this type of work? And also isn’t a crook looking to rip someone off.

Try ec machining or campbell automotive to put together properly, they will probably want factory spec so get them from the S13 CA FSM. Factory parts can all be bought from Ericksen.
Probably easier to just buy another short block if your not looking to make big power with it.
