Has anyone used tri-fittings for exhaust?

At my old job we threw out a ton of piping and fittings that were cluttering up the shop, so I have a bunch of these in all different sizes. They are super strong and we used them for support couplings, high pressure piping, etc.

They would work really well for exhaust, but I cannot find a gasket for them that would be able to handle the temperature. We use to use them on steam lines with high temp ceramic type gaskets, but they are still not rated for exhaust temperatures.

My best guess would be to use a piece of solid core wire soldered together to fit inside the groove. Does anyone have any experience?

looks the same as V band that people use all the time?

For what they sell for on ebay I say sell them and buy v-bands…

Nope, not vband. These have a groove and use a gasket to seal.

You may be better off just saving them for alternative uses and not piecing together some shitty exhaust with these.

@BREETIME used to use these without the seal if I remember – mostly because they were lying around at the time.

X2^

He used them with the seals on my exhaust for the p car.

Can’t remember if I mine have seals or not but he’s used them on all of my exhausts as well.

You could build a nice still with that stuff…

Do you have any idea of the gasket/seal material?

Rubber, polly, something like that.
