listen a larger motor has the ability to burn more fuel because of the bigger displacement. that means more fuel burned=more power. I don’t give a crap about turbo flow when you talk displacment and as for ratings on turbos I think I proved earlier in this thread that the HP rating of a turbo doesn’t mean that is all it will do
absolutely dumbfounded by this thread.
just slap a fp3575 on there, run 10’s out the box and be done…/sarcasm
There really is no discussing anything with you, is there? Your way is the best way, end of story.
A turbo will only flow so much air, period, no matter what engine you’re running it on.
lol welcome home george
yes it will flow so much air but the motors displacment is what matters most because of the ability it has to ingest the air and burn the fuel
???
Could someone please explain to me why almost every professional import turbo drag car is stroked to a higher displacement, if it does nothing for performance. Im waiting.
it was already explained adding displacement puts the power band lower for the power you want for example if you’re making 500hp on a 2.3 @5k rpms to make 500hp on that same turbo on a 2.0 it would be more like 6.5krpms and on a 1.0 would have to be around 10k rpms or higher
but cars that are drag cars they don’t care about that cause they are launching off the 2 step anyway where ever they want too
wow, this has really went down hill.
air ride and air flow are all the same, so if you know how one works you then know how the other works. silly.
lol
so what youre telling me, is that on a bigger motor… it makes more power sooner? Who would have guessed?
yes but I think the argument is that the bigger motor and smaller motor with the same turbo will make the same power if both max out the turbo which is possibly the stupidest thing I have ever heard
did u graduate? cus it’s simple physics and thermodynamics
so you are saying that a given turbo maxed out on a v8 and a 2l dsm will make the same power?
What he’s saying is true, in a perfect world…or on paper. But we don’t live and race in a perfect world. And nobody is going to rev their turbo charged small displacement motor to 9,000,000,000 RPMs to match what a 5.0 liter would do with the same turbine. Its just not worth it. It all boils down to what I said before these guys tried to tell me that displacement is irrelevent. More power is easier to achieve on a bigger turbocharged motor.
in terms of airflow yes, physics says that
i said that, the “argument” was that airflow is what determines a motors power potential wiht a turbo which is what i was justifying no one said anything about real world scenarios. i hate when people get all stupid when they’re arguing the same thing
Here’s soem F*cked up shit for you right here…
say a v8 is a wendy’s straw. and say a 4cyl is a coffee sturrer/straw. Blow through them both. the wendy’s straw you blow through will flow lets say twice the coffee straw. say we strap a T88 to each…lets call that blowing into a 1" piece of pipe. Blow through the pipe with each straw, whats your cfm at the end of the pipe? only as much as the initial output cfm. aka, the output will be different, aka the same turbo on each motor will NOT term the same output.
next, strap a 14b to each motor. lets call this another coffee straw. blow each straw though the coffee straw. what do u get? the coffee straw blown through another coffee straw will yeild the same output cfm of a wendys straw blowing through a coffee straw. Simple entry level college shit righ ther.
now, play with heat and all the other bs in a real world situation, it gets f’d up a lil bit more, but the concept plays the same.
