Having Trouble Pickin Turbo

I WANT SOMETING THAT WILL SUPPORT ATLEAST 500WHP STILL BE STREETABLE AND UNDER 1200 INCLUDING WASTE GATE SO FAR I’M PRTETTY SET ON THIS http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7979587053&category=33742 ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS

hx40 is pushing it for 500whp…maybe but good luck the 650 they advertize isn’t correct most guys using it are getting that at the crank

t3/t67 HO will do it with some lag. also precision SC61 wtih TO4S cover will do it with better spool than the T3/67

sc61 won’t make 500whp maybe 450whp at best we have one on jims 1g

lol. it will easily make 500whp man. they are rated at 680hp and that is conservative

http://www.evans-tuning.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2032

that is a 81.5mm bore which is like 1820cc and did 605whp at 24psi. that turbo is good to almost 30psi and with a bigger motor(2.0) will will do 500whp with ease

the scm61 last i saw was only rated 540…u sure you’re not thinking of their 60 trim?

that link you posted was on 9:1 not 7.8:1 like we run

Garret GT30R !!! www.slowboyracing.com

If i had it all to do over again i would buy the same turbo i did last time. Super quick spool up, and people have made 500+ whp with them.

Mine did 470 to the wheels, on 24 psi with conservative tuning. My compression ratio is similar to the 4g63.

Or if you wanna go a little bigger, the GT35R

35r if anything

an ebay turbo would scare me

SCM61 is the shitty DSM flanged turbo with internal gate :greddy: so of course it is rated at less. I am talking a true SC61 with TO4S cover.

if you want to make 500whp why would you use a internal gate? and as for compression the difference in displacement makes up for the difference in compression by far. compression does very little to spool a turbo contrary to popular belief. I think earl benson from benson machine said it best when he said “compression does shit for spool. the way a turbo spools is based on gearing since boost is a byproduct of load.”

680hp SC-6176E 61mm 2.416" 3.227" 56 3" / 2" 360 Race 0.63 T04 2.920" 2.542"

here is the DSM flanged one

630hp SCM-6152E 61mm 2.416" 3.227" 56 3" / 2" 360 Race .63 T350 2.795 2.437 76

alll PTE turbos can be internally/externally gated and we’ve run both the to4e and the to4s cover 60-1’s on that car

well unless you are losing at least 180hp through the drivetrain it will do 500whp

Garrett GT-3076R dual ball bearing turbo. Might be a little nicer on the street…

You should really sit down with a calculator and some flow maps. Get your motor setup all plotted out and run some numbers to see what will actually meet your needs.

I ran my 7-bolt through some numbers and ended up going with a 66-trim T04. My goal is 450hp max on race fuel with decent streetability in mind. Shouldn’t be hard at all.

id get a forced performance turbo personally if that was my budget. i was going to buy an evo 3 or 50 trim but found my hx35 for under 500 bucks with 5000 miles on it. I couldnt pass it up. the wastegate only goes down to 22lbs though

you could have easily made 450whp on a 50 trim with a .8x A/R exhaust side on pump with a better flowing head though

most people don’t want 22lbs pumping into the motor at a minimum. can you say detonation on pump gas?

i would just like to point out that the t67 sam is speaking of uses the same cold side as the fp3575 but the hot side is smaller (i finally got around to looking it up) basically will make WAY more power than you’re looking for more like the 750hp crank range
