I washed my car last night, so I figured I’d snap a few shots, but while I was at it, I did a little bit of Photoshop work as well. Its simple, so anyone on here with access to Photoshop could do it, and it really helps out on shots that have dark shadow areas or bright highlight areas.
True HDR (high dynamic range) photos are often done by taking photos at different focal points and exposures, so that you have a crisp image no matter where you look in the photo, but you can do this in the newer Photoshop packages using shadow/highlights. I used this to turn up the detail in the dark areas (shadows) and turn down the washed out areas as much as possible (highlight). This makes a neat effect on the photo. You can really tell around my fog lights on the wheel offset shot:
16 x 7 rota slips, 225/55/16 (25.7" tall tire) up front, 205/55/16 (24.7" tall tire) in the back. The car is not set up to handle well, but that is fine by me +35mm offset on the wheels, with an additional 5mm spacer to clear the brakes.
I cant even begin to describe how much I hate HDR, especially from people who dont seem to have a grasp on contrast in the photography world. 99% of HDR looks liked washed out, poorly composed shit to me.
Sorry Mark, I gotta hate on this one.
On a side note, I have my Racelogic box with me in Rochester
Its ok, just an opinion, we all got them I actually re-calibrated my work monitor after, and was surprised at how it was slightly washed out. I did another set with some contrast and saturation adjustments, and it looked like it did on my monitor before I re-calibrated it, which was better.
