*** HELP !! BUMPER REPAIR ***

i have a 95 240sx se with an aftermarket FIBERGLASS front bumper, what is the best way to fix some cracks in the bumper by simply doing it my self??

example… do i need to go to cdn tire to get special stuff ??

for people that know what to do please let me know

thanx

Ya man go to Canadian Tire and Grab “MAGIC BUMPER REPAIR”

We need more detail man…

Where are thecracks, how big are the cracks etc…

the cracks are at the bottom and they are about 1 inch in length,

is it hard to paint the bumper your self??? taking it off and fixing it i can prob manage but how bout repainting it the car colour?? soo i try to do it my self or should i pay the 150-250 or what ever the price is and let a shop do it???

^^^ The fiberglassing from the inside like Freak mentioned is your best
bet right now by the sounds of it. It sounds like the bumper is just torn.
But if its anything like this bumper (enclosed pic) then your best bet is to
bring it to a shop…

the cracks are right at the bottom and i dont got a pic yet

hahaaa ok , , yo do u have msn ?? add me albertnazzaro@hotmail.com

pfft drift damage, is having a bumper ripped off :stuck_out_tongue:

I guess thats cool?

But yeah, what Freak suggested seems to be the best think. I dunno exacly where it is, but if its on the bottom of the bumper and not that visible, you can rivit a little aluminum brace on the inside so it doesn’t spread any further.

If the guys at CT are being idiots (cause that NEVER happens)

Are you sure the bumper cover is fiberglass? Sorry if that sounds like a stupid question, but some bumper covers, even custom ones are ABS plastic.

You need Flexible Parts Putty for the face side, and either claw glass (it’s like bondo, but with short strand fibers) or fiberglass matting for the back. Some primers won’t take to fiberglass, so read the label.

Make sure to feather the edges of the tear so the putty will stick. Sand all the paint and primer away from the tears, and blend it away.

as for painting it … I’d recommend taking it to be painted if the paint job on the car is more than a year old. If the paint has faded, or the clear has yellowed, the bumper will stand out badly if you paint it the same color.

Was the car done in base/clear or acrylic?
