somone got to know this. i need to know what the thread pitch is for a axle, i messed up some thread and need to re tape them so i wont cross thread or strip the axle bolt also.
94 honda accord 4dr lx.
if you have access to a huge tap and die set take the nut with you and match it up.
that’s a pretty big size
thats what im saying, my snapon set doesnt come close to that. i would head to a diesel truck shop. maybe. because its a big size with a small pitch. i do have a set of these 4 sided thread files, might be able to find a set and file it back to close.
new axles are lile 70 from autozone btw, might be your only option
ahh, i just grinded the strip part down and bolt on a new bolt.
anyways i just wanted to know because i can get access to some from my dads job.
Was going to tell you that.My ipod died
I know I am too late but it is easy to figure out if you can’t get a quick answer, for future reference.
Measure the number of threads per inch. If it is closer to metric measure the number of threads per inch and convert to millimeters (1 inch = 25.4 mm). This gives you the pitch. If you are not sure what size (ie 1/4-20 UNC or M10x1.5) you need to also measure the Major Diameter.
If you have the thread count and the major diameter you can find the pitch circle diameter, if needed. In some cases you may need this to order a replacement part.
dp = Pitch diameter
D = Major Diameter
p = Threads per inch
dp = (D - 0.64952 x p )
It helps to have a chart handy or take the nut/screw to the local hardware/auto parts store and try to find a match. I have replaced a LOT of Fasteners and Nuts on my Truck with all Stainless stuff from Valu.
