help me decide on a motorcycle hauler...

C10 with modern 5.3/6.0l drive train

I love all of the choices you posted really, I think many of them are “cool ideas” and projects within themselves, but the tacoma is probably your best bet and if you make it look anything like the one posted that would be awesome. If you want something cooler later, find it once your out there.

^^one thing that should be noted about tacomas, unless youre going a base with a 4cyl, those trucks fetch as much money as a fullsize pickup, do not have better fuel economy, and are not as capable as far as payload and towing capacities. i looked at them alot, but ended up in a full size truck instead. theyre nice trucks, but i think theyre priced too high.

I am assuming he is looking at 2wd and 4cyl tacoma’s.

I agree and a domestic pickup with all the rebates and BS is a great value for sure. Wonder what you can get a 2wd short cab GMC pickup for these days with incentives? Throw a drop on it and it would be cool. I have a customer with a new GMC thats a “work truck” looking model with just a drop and it looks great. As for MPG’s the Tacoma must be pretty good I assume though?

i was looking at the v6 4x4 tacoma’s, people were getting about 18-20mpg out of them, im getting 20mpg out of my hemi. those tacoma’s are great trucks but i couldnt see spending 24k on a small pickup with 30-40k miles already on the clock. i cant speak for what you can get a gmc work truck for, as i stopped looking at them as soon as i saw how difficult it is to get a decent motor in a lower optioned truck. the 5.3 wasnt enough for me. i paid 20k for my rcsb ram 8 months old with 8600 miles, i imagine a work truck would go for about the same or less?

Same boat on both of these comments…I spent a lot of time looking at 4x4 v6 tacomas with the 6spd manual, and I would’ve been paying the same amount for a 30k-mile 4-5yr old tacoma that I could’ve paid to own my 2012 F-150 outright. it just didn’t make sense to purchase a used vehicle for the same pricepoint as brand new w/better payload capacity and space.

God, please no.

any hummer besides the H1 or the slang term for a blowjob are horrendous.

my buddy had an H3…it was cramped inside, poorly layed out interior, and the 5cyl engine yeilded neither power nor acceptable fuel mileage. he was gettin 13pmg mixed in it. He kept it aobut 7 months and traded it in on a chevy duramax

Thanks for the comments guys I really appreciate the feedback.

I am looking at 4cyl 2wd base model Tacomas like the one I posted. So they don’t really fetch much cash like the sr5 or loaded models.

It sucks cause I want something old but clearly it isn’t going to be reliable compared to the newer Toyota or Chevy

edit: just did a quick search for a late model chevy 1500 2wd base model and couldnt find anything within the price range i have in mind so now im leaning even more to toyota like the one i posted in my edit to post #12

also for some reason i keep thinking about the hitch and small trailer idea for the rabbit since i already own it but am torn because of the need to keep the trailer somewhere when not in use…? :ham:

How big of a pain in the dick is cali emissions on older stuff?
Say you did go with a C-10 with a 5.3?

C10 = 5.3 swap hell they even have AC kits

Old school looks + reliability of a new drive train and the 5.3 + 4l60e(auto) will get good gas mileage in a light weight c10.

could always do the “trailer in a bag” system, or the collapsable trailers available that you can fold up and lean against a wall…

find me one already done then

I emailed you one chode!
