help with a jailbroken 1st gen ipod

got this from a friend at work, he jailbroke it, then went to do a system restore and now all it does is power up, show a pineapple, then a cartoon image of steve jobs with a huge grin and his arms in the air, a speach bubble over his haid saying something in russian. google tells me it roughly translated to “WAZZUUPPPP” im serious. made me lol at first, but now its just frusterating

from what ive read, it was jailbroken with quickpwn. i just want to restore it to factory setting so i can listen to some music and play WwF! ive tried to put it in dfu mode with no success, computer doesnt even recognize it at all!!

thanks

You need to put it in restore mode.

Make sure it is plugged in via USB whilst doing this.

Keep holding the 2 buttons, until you see the apple logo.

Stop holding the power button, but still keep holding the home button, and you will see an image of the iPod connector and the logo of iTunes.

It should restore now.

i dont ever see an apple logo, just a pineapple with a bite taken out of it. clever pun

well then substitute pineapple logo for apple logo. see if that works.

have, it doesnt :frowning:

try out some of this shit then:

edit:
found this too:

Alternate Method: Going Into DFU Mode Without Button Pushing: (on windows) Easier than timing the buttons just right!

1.) First download the required archive http://www.sendspace.com/file/93fx93

2.) Extract the archive to the root of your hard drive, should be C:/DFU/

3.) Connect your iPhone and ignore iTunes

4.) Goto Start – run

5.) Next type in “c:/dfu/dfu iBSS.m68ap.RELEASE.dfu”

6.) Wait for iPhone to show a “white” screen

7.) Now you may proceed to downgrade!

The problem is that the computer does not detect this at all when I plug it in. I’ve tried diffrent cables, my current touch works perfect with it… Really becoming rather frustrating
