Well i was installing my plug and play kit on my s14 today and everything was going good. First, I did the passenger side. Fired it up and compared it to the stock halogens which were still on the driver’s side. Next, i did the driver’s side.Fired it up when I was done and it looked great. Everything was loose and i wanted to wrap all the connections with electrical tape, so i did. When I was done (7:30pm), I decided take it around the block to try them out. I jumped into the car, started her up, turned on the lights and for some reason the passenger’s side didn’t come on. I checked to see if it was the ballast/ignitor pack and bulb, but it was all good. Then i checked the fuse and saw that it had popped. I replaced it and the same thing happened. It was a 20amp fuse so i tried a 25 and still, same shit.Should i try a larger fuse? Another Q, u know the pos and neg quick connect ends which are part of the HID kit harness…did u guys plug the positive end into the top socket of your light bulb harness and negative into the right socket. The stock H4 harness looks like this (found this one on the net and circles wut im talkin about):
i think you may have wired it wrong. the + and - on the HID harness goes to battery positive and black wires goes to chassis ground. For the headlight connector, there is a H4 style connector on the harness you plug into. This is your trigger wire for the HID. Don’t go too high on fuses, or it will melt your wires.
Show a pic of ur wiriing for ur kit. i have s14 too, and its almost impossible to mess up a plug and play kit.
This kit doesnt have a relay on it so im thinking to wire one in. This kit has the ballast and ignitor in one and the only thing i really need to connect is the positive and negaive leads, which are those quick connect things which plug into the factory headlight harness…
You should use a relay and take the red off the battery, they are sucking to many amps off you stock headlight harness, the fuse is for safety never replace it with a fuse rated for higher, only lower if you don’t have the same type other wise you run the risk of having an electrical fire.
Get a standard relay and wire it so that when power comes on in your headlight harness it throws the relay and allows ur hids to pulls full amps from the batt/alt.
thanks, thats what i think im guna do. will try it out this weekend
