high hp turbo honda engine info

devin the J stands for junk. those are slow as fuck.

ATP turbo is a neat site but unfortunetly was 0 help to me. I don’t need help selecting a turbo. I need to know which engine i should be looking at, which transmissions i should be looking at for the power i want. preferably all alum stuff to keep the weight down. I know honda engines won’t make the power I want in stock forum like the SHO engine so. is there asite I can look at internals and such? what is junk and what is good?

i’m not new to boost but I am new to hondas.

How the hell did he do that?
the funny thing is he won every event he went to untill the right front wheel sheered off and sent him into a wall. he dominated the circut in his class.

honda setups are not cheap or reliable by any means, looks at lazies car he probly has $10-15g’s in his motor alone and has to run race gas to get 500hp! And the civic took a shit on him every yr! Just buy a cheap built hatch/teg already done for around 6-7k, or buy becks old car for $4000!

ide look for a GSR motor, b18c1

as for internals, well im no expert but wisesco pistons seem to be popular as well as eagle rods. Im not really that experienced when it comes to internals.

WTF is there any small engine that will make decent power reliably! yeah yeah a LS1 won’t fit easly. I don’t get it a fucking taurus engine will reliably make 400whp in completely stock forum for indefinately as long as you replace rod bearings acasionaly at 60 bucks and 2 hours labor a pop. I though all the talk of powerful hondas was more than talk. I was thinking this would make a fun track car.

I would except i hate hondas. I like safety and comfort. I am just looking for a good poursource package and they have a good rep.

buy layzie’s motor?

im not the most knowledgeable about hondas but would a sleeved H22 be able to handle that kind of power? I know that the nikasil liners cant but i would think that sleeved the block would be pretty stout.

heres the issue somedude… weight. a light civic hatch will take the power all day long because the car is light. add tons of weight and the block starts to twist more and the trans could become an issue even though normally they arent.

i would focus on getting a trans that can handle the power a turbo sho can make even if you have to cut the bellhousing off and weld another one on or make an adapter. I think I mentioned either here or on roclife to try the A413/31TH/A670 chrysler 3 speed. there are millions of them around and they hold up to the punishement of 1000-1400hp when built properly. plus, no electronics other than lockup tq convertor if you want one.

you could make an adapter/spacer so you can have a thicker torque converter made that has multidisk lockup torque converter clutches installed then you can lock it up in 3rd and still boost the living piss out of it.

id contact “torqueflite” on www.turbo-mopar.com and see what he can do for you. he makes his own manual valve bodies and stuff like that and has a trans brake available. darrel cox racing has some trannies available as well. there is one spot that you want to weld as well if you decide to do this but that can be dealt with later.

Anybody ever try swapping one of the Ranger V6’s in? More specifically the 4.0?

^Good call.

you could convert the car to RWD… isnt there a aerostar/ranger bellhousing that bolts to the sho? adapt that to a T56 and fab in a T-Bird IRS or a ford 9". that would be pretty fun and would actually free up space to work on the SHO motor in that engine bay.

I hated working on my 91 SHO cause the engine/intake etc was so large.

Turbo Infiniti J30 > Turbo SHO

While a Turbo J30 is a good idea, I think I can do it one better…

-Infiniti M30 (keep the auto since there is auto love and I know there are builds/kits for them)
-VG33DE out of a 96+ Pathfinder
-bored for Q45 pistons (3.4 litre) search nissanperformancemag.com project pathfinder nissanperformancemag.com
-use stock heads = ~10:1 comp. http://www.az-zbum.com/vg34.shtml
-single turbo setup off of a Z31
-S13 suspension (direct bolt on with a couple modifications) search f31club.com: http://f31club.com/s13_sus.html

-fucking sexy as hell (I know you love it)

o.k, too low for my tastes.

^raise the back about 3/4" and that would be super bad ass

^ That thing needs to be SLAMMED!

Anyways… I might be having a super high HP engine and trannie ready for the picking soo… Its SUPER DUPER high hp, and its a big bad V6… Everyone knows theres no replacement for that good ol displacement… J30A1 bitches!

Yes, VTAK will be kickin in all over the place… And everyone love vtek

Damn, you always have to be right. That an interesting idea now.

I don’t want a focus engine. they are too expensive to build i’m looking for cheap.
ACTUALLY, a honda engine costs more to build up for 500+ hp

trust me, i just built one, and it was nearly $3k and two months at the machine shop.

you can buy an already machined and assembled built shortblock from central florida motorsports for $2300 for the zetec. you can get a tranny from the j-yard for $100, or a brand new one off ebay for $300ish + shipping. $400 for the LSD, $450 for the clutch. cheap used turbo parts and self-fabbing a kit like on the SHO will be less than $1000 and then its just tunning software for another $650. the tunning is the only part of a ford build more expensive than a honda 4cyl.

focusinprogress. pm me your number we need to talk

i’m not looking for a new platform I like my platforum. i’m not done playing with this platform. I just want to get it around 2500lbs. and that is possible with a lighweight powertrain.
