I had NC in a game this year, is he the real tall reciever, number 2 or 4 or somethign like that? Seemed like a real nice kid, talked to me the whole game, very polite, etc… Too bad they don’t throw him the damn ball, the 2nd or 3rd time they looked to him he did nothing except catch the game winning TD
Ever been on Heinz Field? That surface is fucking GARBAGE. In a close, grind em out type of game, Central will not be able to use their typical style like they do on regular artificial turf or the better types of grass/turf synthetic. Heinz is slippery, not well seeded into the ground, and has alot of up and down spots where you feel like your going to fall or trip. For a great stadium, you think they’d have better turf…
thats why they beat woody high and baldwin, they couldn’t use their regular style but the defense won the game for them. Thats what great teams do, they win no matter what. They do what they gotta do to get er done!
I figured heinz would be a little better by now with the real/fake mixture. i haven’t heard the players cry about it lately. I mean it will be trashed by the quad a game anyway and then something will happen at the steelers game and the fans will cry about it and say they shouldn’t use the field anymore. Taxes built it, let the kids play.
predictions, central over bethel park, mckee over USC, PH over NH, and the shocker, woody high beats gateway on the last play. people wanna see CC vs gateway again but i want penn hills.
Thats what I meant by not being able to use their “typical style”. I’m still a firm believer that central is the best team in the western half of the state (i havent seen any games from east except the North Penn Convicts and one game by Downingtown East). THey wont be able to use their typical style @ Heinz, like running Jarvis wide, options, etc… but they will still win in my opinion. I think your going to see Pelusi explode on one of these games where the surface is bad and they can’t run it, throw some tight end seam passes to him and show why he is a D-I recruit.
My predictions, I’ll go all classes just for some fun.
AAAA - Central beats Bethel, USC beats Mckeesport, Penn beats North in the Hills battle, and I think Gateway will beat Woody High.
AAA - Upset Special - Hampton beats West A (sorry TwoForty), Canon-Mac beats West Mifflin, Moon beats Blackhawk, TJ beats Ambridge.
AA - Aliquippa beats Ford City, Burrell beats South Park, Greensburg CC beats Laurel, Seton Lasalle beats Beaver Falls
A - SS Beaver beats Duquesne, Canevin beats Rochester, W. Beaver beats Clairton, Springdale beats Farrell.
I wouldnt be suprised though if North Hills, West A, West Miff, Laurel, or Clairton won instead of the ones I picked.
x2
i hated that surface! i had to wear 3/4in cleat to get any kind of footing! i still prefer sports turf with 1/2in cleats.
thats number 2 you are thinking about, his name is Rob Stolarski. He had the game winning TD at the Avonworth game. He is a good kid, but that was like his 3 catch all season and they would always throw to him. next game he dislocated his shoulder which ended his season.
Andy was the kid on NC that had 3 interceptions that game and the long kick and punt returns
Had to edit once again, sorry guys.
were you the ref that kepy arguing with the coach?
just remember your boy cutty if you get a central game Oldsmobile guys gotta stick together!
ONly a couply more edits and I’m done.
LOL I get that so much with my friends from different schools… Telling me to hook them up, etc… If I had a dollar for everytime I got that, I’d be able to donate a couple hundred thousand to pittspeed, lol
Its wierd though, a friend of mine teaches at a local school and refs as well, and when he got chosen to do a game that his school was involved in, the ref chapter pulled him off the game and sent him somewhere else. I think thats respectable, that way you never have “hometown” type refs that give calls to teams, etc…
Edited.
i could never be a ref, i’d have to kill myself. actaully i have poor vision so i guess i’m perfect for the job.
yeah is a dick, but you were definitely in the wrong too for arguing back with the coach. either way it was a good game.
on a side note, the years highschool refs were pretty shitty for the games that i watched.
Edited for my own safety, lol
:hsdance:
It’s actually alot of fun. I was going on to play ball in college and got hurt, but still love the game and wanted to stay in it. 98% of coaches are good guys. As long as you know the rules, coaches usually leave you alone. Alot of coaches will ask an official an abstract rule interpretation, and if they know it, they leave them alone and trust there judgement for the rest of that game. But if you don’t know that rule, god help you.
This may sound funny, but the absolutel WORST games to do are little kids games. Parents are out of control, kids are even worse, and the coaches don’t know their ass from a hole in the ground. They are horrible.
And we make good money :bigok: Reffing payed for my v8 last year and will pay for all my engine and suspension mods this year
i find myself at games wondering what the hell is wrong with people when they moan and groan about a call when its was something so clear. There is definetly three groups of people that watch football.
- those who watch and have no clue
- those who watch and know the rules
- those who watch and know the game.
i think a lot of steeler fans fall under 2.
No way gateway is going to lose to Woodland hills. last game was 47-6.
I’m not gonna make any predictions…we’ll see what happens.
as for clear calls i will always bitch about offensive holding calls! as a player i know for a fact EVERYONE holds on EVER play! i was taught to pass block with my hands inside and after initial hit to grab the inside of the shoulder pads and lock out with my feet under my shoulders and to keep them moving to reroute the player! so many things go on that are illegal on a football field that no one ever sees and that fans arent even aware are going on! for example god help you when your fighting for a fumble at the bottom of a pile. i almost lost a fucking eye against elizabeth forward when i was fighting for an onside kick! i was even bit before when i was tackled and ended up on the bottom of a pile! people spit on you and shit. another thing you dont see is the amount of shit talking that goes on!
im done :)
like i said, people that know football knows that shit goes on. hell i know how vicious tackle is but, serious flag football is brutal, no equipment and all out full contact blocking. you learn tricks like blocking with a forearm and slidding your other fist underneath right into their gut. my uncle has had more injuries in his seasons of flag than 32 years of amature and pro baseball. the all black guy team was tired of losing to him so they recruited him over to their team. lol
the call i hate the most is clipping, especially on a long kick off return. one that comes to mind is the rocket’s punt return for a TD against colorado in 90, that was an iffy call at best and wasn’t a high impact on the return, rocket was 5 yards past and full speed when it happend.
