I just don’t understand why some of you are so upset about people fighting for a noble cause.
I have quite a bit of education in a variety of disciplines, but I don’t know how to sail or skipper a yacht. I am not some belligerent goldbrick out playing sailor.
I’ve seen the show once or twice and my impression was that if you have enough money, you can “pay” your way on board the ship as a volunteer without the skills or experience (knowledge) necessary for the job. It also seems to me that the practice of bringing on board a variety of people who, granted, may each have some necessary specialty, still does not make a cohesive and efficient crew and is a recipe for a disaster such as this.
That is my point. I make no other assumptions regarding their collective “education” so stop making your own against me.

These all seem like nobler or equally noble causes… unfortunately you dont get to fight those causes in a sick ass boat.

Whales/dolphins, while well deserving of our appreciation and protection, are easy to to like. They also seem more attractive to young female celebrities.
That and in the Congo, they people they are fighting shoot bullets, not water cannons and LRADS.
That would be way to dangerous for the average person to go in there.

A whale won’t be part of the culture when its doesn’t exist.
In the bigger picture, the 5 million bob barker donated won’t even knick the problem that Americans are facing in Detroit or anywhere. It would be money spent and unrealized. But 5 million toward the fight of saving a species of whales can go a long way.
Poaching of elephants has been addressed by local governments and is a fight that has turned out for the better.
