Great. Then you live in Wyoming.
And that’s so much worse than WNY how?
I hate NY. There I said it. Wyoming is actually pretty awesome.
The Western half of Wyoming is awesome, the Eastern half is pretty terrible. My 250k home in Denver has less than 900 bucks for taxes
Evanston Wyoming. Awesome location and neat town. I would move there tomorrow if I could.
A tiny small town with less than 15k people with a wall mart supercenter as your only shopping option. No houses outside of the town that aren’t in a cookie cutter subdivision on a tiny lot… so your choices are ancient tiny p.o.s. in town or stepford wives HOA?
Oh and 90 minutes to civilization in SLC? pass.
Jim you are wrong on all accounts except the 15000 people number. I flew to SLC 2 weeks ago and drove to Evanston to check it out. I will post more later about Evanston.
Keep in mind the speed limit is 75mph on I80 and there are not tax collectors every hiding every couple miles like NY.
While no place is for everyone check out these accolades compared to NY which is dead last (50th) in the rankings for business…

Oh, and tons of World class ski resorts and National Parks within a short distance.
Not to shit on you but you really didn’t address anything I brought up. NY certainly has a ton of taxes and laws that blow, however you also get cultural sophistication, great architecture and big city amenities especially when you compare buffalo to a small town in Wyoming. Not to mention Toronto which is just as far from Buffalo as SLC is from that place and Toronto blows SLC away. And as if Letchworth for example isn’t a pretty amazing park? or Niagara Falls isn’t a draw? you act like we have nothing comparable here. I’ll give you the world class ski resorts though.
Also, you do realize that 68.4% of the population self reported as Mormon in the 2010 census right? that might take some getting used to.
What i was really getting at is that this will be your entire world unless you’re willing to drive 90 minutes
No cute little village down the road, No exclusive neighborhoods up on a hill overlooking the town… it doesn’t exist. This is it.
It’s very different from upstate NY. The only housing options here are an old cape cod in town or a postage stamp cookie cutter subdivision. Maybe a dude ranch on one of the state roads. There aren’t houses lining the state and county roads there like there is here. Take a look around the map.
Like I said before, No Thanks.
I’m still wondering how i’m “wrong on all accounts” by the way since you haven’t refuted any of my points. Don’t get me wrong though, I hate our state and local governments as much as anyone else. I just think that sometimes people forget about the benefits when they compare us to other regions.
If you have a beard and a flannel shirt because all of the cool kids on Elmwood have that then Evanston is not for you. If you have those things because you love the outdoors then you may fit in. It is not for everyone.
I don’t give a rats ass about shopping or Albright Knox “art” but Park City is only about 45 minutes away which is closer than I am to the Niagara outlet mall.
If you hate driving and love urban life then Evanston is not for you, I am just saying that I was pleasantly surprised by Evanston. It is not just some dead mining town in the middle of no where, they have invested huge money into their community including a runway that can land 747s. they have also put huge money into a UP round house for large gatherings. They just rebuilt a theater. They have a nice little state park right at the edge of town, etc, etc, etc.
P.S. I have no desire to go to Toronto anymore and Letchworth is meh.

No racetracks, hell, none anywhere close.

The wages, at least in my industry, are a fraction of what they are here.
I live in the city and love it. However I genuinely consider statements like this horse shit. Certainly opportunities exist to broaden ones cultural sophistication, but most people don’t take advantage of them.
I feel like people who obsess over culture in Buffalo never travel.
You can find hipsters and fancy art in just about every city
lol
Stop trolling.
Is this thread still about home assessment? My attorney wants to for the home i just bought. My purchase price was lower than the assessment though.
:lolham:
Ever see someone post a picture on the FB of sub par weather in BUF and some idiot from NC or another southern state posts his sunshine picture with some witty, yet annoying caption along the lines of “no snow here…”
Don’t be that guy…nobody likes that guy.
subscribing so that I can come back here and post a picture of me, on my boat in 80° weather this afternoon.
