because it’s a race bike and the motor has 6k in it and it walks 250s all day long. (it ain’t brand new)
and you have to do a top end on any 2 stroke once a year not just 125s.

agreed.
it’s kinda like havin a nice powerful motor in something that’s lighter than the rest - teh win but whatever it’s my bike anyways
you could have just came out and said “i dont know shit about dirtbikes”. Cause thats all this post really did, and I hate to see whitey’s bandwidth be wasted.
#1. NO 125cc MX bike will outpull a stock 250. Not even a fully prepped works bike. Ive ridden 125cc bikes that have a shitload more than $6,000 into the motor, and it still didnt have the balls as my basically stock 250. Bikes that are illegal to sell and must be returned to the factory and destroyed after its time is up. Pretty much works Suzuki bikes. So your “$6,000 into the motor” bullshit just makes me laugh. You have a hopped up chainsaw motor in your bike. To make it even funnier, there is no fucking way that this guy spent $6,000 on his motor. I HIGHLY doubt he spent even half of that.
#2. YOu obviously have NO idea about how often you need to do top end jobs on 2 stroke MX bikes. IIRC, my 97CR250’s manual called for a new piston and rings every 10 hours of operation (now, that is assumed to be all racing time and can go a lot longer if you put put around the woods and stuff). I did a new top end in my 250 usually around 2 times a year, but only because I didnt race it much. If i had a “$6,000” motor in my 125, then I’d probably be doing about a half dozen top end changes in a year, depending on how much i rode and how hard I rode. oh, and have fun running VP in that thing you bought just to fuck around on. With the race gas and the premix, you’re looking at ~$5 a gallon.
2005 CR250R - 213 lbs dry 47-50hp
2005 CR125R - 193 lbs dry 33-35hp…
hmmmm…
i will say this…my buddy rides for KTM…he has a 125…before he rode for KTM he was riding for kawasaki…or kawashity as dad called it…one of the races i went to with them (back in teh day when he was only in B class) he raced his KTM against some 250s…and well he won that race!! now if he was going against some really good racers like him self…then prob. a different story…but this kid as clearing triples on his 125 that some of the 250s didnt want to try???
but all in all…kurt if u like it then good!!! hope u enjoy it!! and i wouldnt expect to see you get a 250…not being a dick…but ur not all that big for a 250…u have the height but idk about the wieght?
how much are you spending on this bike?
I want a bike, but im poor
CR250 or XR400
:blah: :finger: haha jk. I cant wait to ride w/ u guys this summer. i’m really excited. will be fun. and yes Suzuki> *
Bluemeanietsi, thats a good bike. For what you r doing w/ it that bike will be great. the newer bikes r all very good. kawi’s 125 hasnt been strong in recent years compared to the other engines in the class, but its still fast. plus, i assure you the handling and suspension will be awesome on that bike. its easy to make a bike faster, too. so u r in good shape. plus, if u want to ride a fast 125, all u gotta do is ask, then u can take my RM for a spin.
look kurt on his new 125 :booty:
guess you were right you do like an ogre on a 125
ya, i agree w/ alot of this. don’t buy into this guy’s bullshit about 6k in the motor and being able to pull 250s…it just isn’t happening. maybe he means 250f fourstrokes, which would make more sense cause they r in the same class as your 125, but not 250 2-strokes. there is no amount of mods that will make up for the displacement difference. thats not to say it wont be fast though. i’m sure it is.
i disagree. i actually went down from a 250 back to a 125. im sure i can clear just about anything that anyone on here can do on their 250 also (unless its right out of a tight turn). i think 125s r more fun. i feel more confident and i think i am actually faster on a 125. bics can vouche for that.
just so some of u guys know. a 125 has basically the same dimentions in overall size as a 250. the only real differences r that the frame where it cradles the engine is smaller. there r other small differences, but basically they r about the same overall size.
it’s all about the skills of the rider. i have seen broc sellards beat 250 and 500 riders when he was still on and 80.
and just for the record, with the changes on the kawi this year, they are/might be the best bike this year(atleast the 250).
the people that werent clearing triples on 250’s were probably to pussy to try it. Most triples have a good run at them. its the long doubles coming out of turns that are hard for 125s. Like at Switchback in Butler (lord knows if its even still configured this way), the jump before the BIG step up on the backside of the track. the long double that stepped up a little bit. I dont think that i ever saw a 125 clear that.
you must have missed it. The bike he is buying has a $6,000 motor and eats 250’s for breakfast. :bowrofl:
Of course im not buying into it, its horseshit. I dont know that its even POSSIBLE to spend 6,000 on engine mods on a MX bike. Unless he had everything down to the rings gold plated. :kekegay:
Ive ridden one of the most powerful 125’s on the planet and it still didnt pull close to a 250. The powerbands are totally different. 125’s make no torque. You have to rev the piss out of them to get anywhere. On a 250 a crack of the throttle is all you need. Just my taste.
i know that one. i rode there once. i had trouble doing it on my bike. it was mostly due to crappy track conditions. no traction on wet hardpack
werd. Ive seen Brock Hepler chase down the leader of the college boy class on his punched out 80. When he was in the schoolboy class, at steel city when they ran the classes together. The college boy class got a half lap in and then they let the schoolboys go. College boy was mostly 125 and 250 B riders and Brock chased down the leader but couldnt quite pass him. He would have if he had a couple more turns. He then came back to the pits and bitched up a storm about not being able to pass him. Kid was like 13. lol
yeah I cleared it a couple times, then cased it hard once and didnt do it again. No sense fucking up yourself or your bike on practice night. the big step up right after that is fun as hell though. I cased it a time or two, then got pissed off and just hit it topped in 4th. Ended up landing about 5 feet from the trees and then went flying halfway up into the hare scrambles course. Never lost it, but it was pretty embarassing.
