hopefully gettin this friday

get a 250, instead of a 125!

why would he want one of those ass 250’s when he can have a $6,000-motored 125cc bike that will smoke 250’s and factory works 125’s?

haha. ya i dont see how one could possibly drop 6k on a motor. there simply isn’t enough to it, to spend money on. after a port/polish, cases matched, new internals, new clutch, exhaust, reed vavle not much else u can do. after that, its all in the tuning.

i know for a fact that a totally ripped-out 125 cant hang w/ a stock 250 2-stroke. actually last summer up at my camp, me, bics, and my buddy Nick lined up in one of my huge fields to drag race. we wanted to see how the bikes ran in a straight line. i had a 125, bics a 250 and Nick a 250f. the 125 nd 250f were really close and bics totally destroyed both of u on his cr250. on the track, a 250 will definatly come out of turns w/ a slight flick of the wrist, while on a 125 u r sipping the clutch while revving the fuck out of it, or tryin to rail the farthest outside line. it can be annoying, but in most cases I can deal with it. its also funny how much more shifting is involved on a 125. we were at a track last year, and bics could pretty much stay in 3rd around the whole track on his 250. i am constantly shifting on my 125 to keep momentum up. that includes sometimes shifting up on the faces of jumps, and back down in the air to set up for turns…haha

werd on the first part. I mean, theres not even a valvetrain or any moving parts in a 2 stroke motor (besides the obvious). it could be bored, stroked, cryo-treated in every possible way and still wouldnt be close to $6,000.

check out this link… at the bottom. TMR full race 125cc engine. $1,700. :kekegay:

as for the second part. Yes. 125’s are a pain in the ass. some people love that, but Im a lazy fuck so I like being able to just stay in 3rd and clutch it when necessary.

because in sure kurts not going to drop $6,000 in to the bike when he first gets it. So therefore STOCK mmmmmm 250 cc stock vs. 125cc stock wonder which is faster??

no, the bike he is buying is used. It already HAS $6,000 imaginary dollars dumped into the motor.

about time you admit it.

dont make me e-takeyourasstoschool

watch out Eurodad, Darkstar will copy and paste your ass right back to kindergarden

i’m still waiting for you to borrow a bike to come and race me.

what about me??? dont i get to ride too? :blue:

want his number to call him and ask what’s done to it because it’s still on the market for sale i’m sure he’d gladly tell you what he did with it. the bike was built last year before he hurt his back he rides for a living we’ve seen the bike, we’ve rode the bike, we’ve put the bike up against jims cr 250 and even cory (guy i’m buyin it off of) newer bike. since none of you race professionally (at the most was i think smokeys post about racing amature) then how can you call bs on a bike you’ve never seen, never ridden, and dont’ know the owner and who built it?

as for all the comments about the bike being a 125 from mike - i’m 1/3 your weight of course a 125 won’t pull you around i’m suprised anything under a 400 would

for the record i’m payin less than i could get a beat ass '00 50cc model

yeah that’s what we all run out here what else would you run :dunno:

sounds like a cool bike for sure. like i said, im sure u will like the bike, and its gonna be fast. i’m still sticking by the fact that there can’t be 6k wrapped up in the ENGINE alone. maybe 6000 total, bike + engine mods…or maybe 6000 in all mods (susp, bars, etc)on top of the cost of the bike, but in the engine alone is absolutley ridiculous. i’ve been around the sport my whole life and i know ppl that race in the pro class and alot of guys i know keep their bikes to bolt-on mods. i was out w/ a buddy of mine a couple years ago , who races pro. he was testing out he newly modified engine on his yz125. it had just had all kinds of crazy head work and totally gone over by proaction (for way less than 6k)…anyways, by the end of the week, he sold the cylinder to my friend because he liked the way it ran w/ the stock porting and such w/ a simple bolt on pipe /silencer, reed cage. that doesnt mean eveyone is like that…just an example that just because u r pro doesnt mean u have some unobtainable engine. also, most pros will tell u that, the engine is all about getting it to run how u like it, cause there is only so much power u can get out of the newer engines. they r just so fast bone stock. its the suspension that gets all the money usually anyways. also, in a straight line, a stock 250 will pull on any true 125 (even the factory stars personal race bikes) end of story. anyways, i hope u get it though, just tryin to give u some insight.

jim was ridin it and pullin the front up by crakin it in 4th gear…never seen a 125 do that without some effort at least. who knwos what he’s got in the motor he’s a machinist at obergs so there might be some custom stuff in there.

Ok lets pretend this bike is just as fast as an 250 2stroke(which it isnt but still lets pretend). Now think of it is it worth the “hassle” of owning a highly modified engine which will probably have problems and have to run gas that is over $5/gallon. Think of it you can get a bone stock 250 and in the long run it will be more reliable and you dont have to run race fuel. This is all of course if we are pretending it is just as fast as a 250 2stroke in a straight line.

And a few people said it right by saying a rider makes all the difference in the world. different people ride with different styles and some are actually faster on 125’s than 250’s. When smokey had his 250 I could somewhat hang with him but he was faster in the turns than me. Now he is still faster in the turns than me and I have the advantage on straightaways and he can still pull on me. I truley think he is faster on a 125.

we run $5 gas in all our bikes…even my old 84 husky who cares about that. as for the rest of it i guess i’ll just have to see.

well good luck… it would be cool to for all the MXers to meet up and ride. I run 94 from sunoco and my bike runs great.

def gotta hook up, we ride up here around worthington and couple other places jim’s taken me to also.
