How good is the bottom end in a Dsm?

So a car that was put together in Illinois is a rice rocket??? I still don’t get it.

it wasnt the tuning that was bad, its the fact he lost fuel pressure. I bet the car would have been fine all day long if that fuel pressure didnt drop.

Are you sure? I mean that dip in the air/fuel graph followed by a steady lean a/f climb is not good for any turbo car. He was using the cobbled together mess known as megasquirt and some awesome toonerz…what do you expect? Just because one of the guys in the video says the “fuel pressure dropped” doesn’t mean that it really did drop. Its like saying bad spark plugs when you need to replace a piston with blown ring lands. Its an easy way out of a bad tune.

Then again who cares the kid just wanted to see what his car could do… he seen it make 35psi and he also seen himself get burned on a blown rod.

i think the tunning was bad or his set up was bad…any details on this car for further speculation

Guys, stock DSM bottom ends WERE NOT MEANT FOR 35PSI!!!

There is no mystery, no conspiracy, no ancient secret as to why the motor blew… It’s just a matter of time…

im not saying there were im just wondering on the whole set up? thats all, believe me i know about dsm it was a rocky road when i owned one…

That boost gauge was pegged at 35 for a few seconds im willing to bet he was running more than 35 psi

It probably saw a tad too much detonation when the AF leaned out and the dramatic increase in cylinder pressure compromised the connecting rods. Those were rated for 350 whp.
