jw what everyones startup time is? mine from off to my IE open is 54 seconds. using windows 7 64bit
Haven’t timed it…I will later.
Next build is going to have SSDs in RAID so hopefully under 20s
I’ll time it. I have 2 60 gb ocz vertex in raid. if i had win7 it would be faster, but it’s pretty freakin fast.
macs boot alot faster.
im pretty happy with my HP laptop… under a min is pretty good. and i think my HD is only a 5200 rpm.
Throw an SSD in there and see what happens

I’d toss that in there and get an external for all your pics/movies/music.
1m 26s from off to IE …ughhh Should be alot faster.
when you say boot up does that mean from the time you press the power button until the desktop shows up?
20sec or so…
Windows 7, SSD, Quad core AMD
how much space do you need? a ssd rather than a hybrid is worth it IMO.
That’s how I went…From a powered off state to an open instance of IE…I’m running a Quad Core Intel, and a 10,000 RPM Velociraptor.
yea i did from off to open IE

around 1min 20sec it showed my desktop icons, so then i clicked internet explorer which for some reason always takes so long to load and then I realized I shouldn’t even time it since it is that bad lol.
AMD Athlon 3200 64
Windows XP Home Edition
2gb of ram
ATI Radeon HD2900xt
24 seconds on the computer I use most of the time…
i7 MacBook Pro
Vertex 2 SSD
Its a bit faster without the encryption, but I can handle it as is.
I wish I could figure out why mine takes so long :-/
I would imagine so. I have however noticed some people not include the BIOS screen for whatever reason. I suppose the time BIOS takes to load isnt real…
Really, you want the time from when you press the power button, to when the OS is booted and the computer is useable with no or very little hard drive activity. It can take quite some time on some computers to actually open a program from when you see the desktop. If you cant load a internet browser, its still booting.
57 seconds with this thing: http://www.newtechnology.co.in/acer-aspire-5532/
