have one in the garage, its an 8.8" differential from a mid 80’s t-bird, factory posi / quadshock setup w/ aftermarket 3.73 (?) gears (pro installed)

A lot, it’s pretty damn strong. Plenty of Mustangs running in the 10’s with the 8.8"
your not goign to break it with street tires. slicks or dr’s and the stock axles will break eventually. High rpm clutch dumps with slicks and dr’s will eventually blow up the diff. but if your running an auto and street tires it will last a long time
It’ll take alot of power.
At worst case, You can have the axletubes welded and bump up to aftermarket axles. You’ll be in the 10’s before you need that. Generally.
