The wife and I decided to skip work today and hang out with our friends visiting from NC. Went out this morning for a quick boat ride before the storms got here. As we’re racing back trying to beat the rain to Niawanda Park I notice a lot of flashing lights over at the Tonawanda Park boat launch. We swung over and snapped these pics:
I really wanted to stay and see the fun they were about to have trying to pull that out with several tons of water inside but this was bearing down fast on us:
The cover being off the outboard is probably a clue as to how this happened. I’m picturing someone pissed off that boat wouldn’t start, in a hurry to get out on the water before the storms, pulling the truck down to the edge of the water to use some jumper cables and not quite getting it in park.
I’m still trying to figure out if one of those people on the dock is the owner. I’m guessing the no shirt big guy is the owner, since he’s was in the water in a couple pictures.
Seen that plenty of times before. When I was a service writer at northtown Dodge, there was a guy that had a loaded Ram 2500 with tons of options. He backed it in at the same location in Tonawanda and dumped the truck and trailer.
They towed it to Northtown and he tried to claim that the brakes failed and wanted Dodge to cover the entire loss. There was I believe 6000 miles on the truck. So they told him to screw off and get the claim through his insurance instead.
