Seen at Ontario street boat launch. That’s gonna take a lot of paper towels to clean up
drainplug…
How in the hell do you even do that? Was the plug left open prior to launching it?
Sorry bout that, WHAMMY
There was a boat sinking / rescue near Harbor Place last night. Tis the season…
Damnit, thread title should have been ‘all aboard the failboat’
Forgetting the drain plug is the number 1 rookie mistake. Even on my little jet ski I pull to the ramp, remove the stern strap and check plugs.
I think I know someone who helped get this out. she said it had a 502 in it with nos or something like that. apparently it was 45’ down…
Forgetting the drain plug? Come on guys… how many of you have ever seen the result of forgetting the drain plug? It would take an hour for the boat to sink that low from forgetting a drain plug.
Unless the title is wrong, the boat wasn’t being launched, and it was in fact floating for an hour before they tried to recover it from the water.
that boat looks too big, the one we heard about was only 25’, but im a boat noob. anyone know where this happened?
Ive seen a guy drive around all day, and he docked the boat for the night. Came back the next day to find his boat at the bottom with the ropes holding tight.
It does take a very long time to sink a boat, especially if the bilge is running. You can drive around just fine, but leave it for a night, the battery will drail and it will sink.
hmm. I dont think they are going to do much good with the digger derrick on the pier, did they actually try using it?
Happened at the ontario street boat launch by the 190. I was at work driving and only had a minute or two to pull over and snap a few pics. The boat was in the water in the condition you see in the pics for at least 30 mins (saw it initially on the way downtown, then stopped to snap pics on the way back).
I also don’t think a drain plug would allow enough water in quickly enough to sink it. Nobody spends that much time at the boat launch (…right?)
Somebody must know somebody that helped pull this thing out
was it the boats maiden voyage?
looks like something a factory would ship it with (the tow vehicle)
maybe it just wasn’t sea worthy ;d
testing out the new periscope?
in for the story behind this.
EDIT: and for those who said something about a tow vehicle… my bet is, his 2wd dakota wasnt going to pull an already 18k lb boat that now has 20k of water in it… off of a slippery ramp and out of the water…just a guess though.
if you can afford that kind of boat… im sure you can afford a good tow vehicle
unless it was just being launched by a company and then going to be docked up from then on.
thats a lot of weight, even for a GOOD tow vehicle…
