Anybody ever replace the gas tank on a 97ish grand am? Is it much of a project?
…Looks like cake… Anybody in Buffalo that might have one in stock today? The stealership wanted $600+ :jawdrop:
yo buddy
i suggest for you to go to “able auto” down in chew road, sanborn, NY
they’re actually junk yard full with lots of parts…they specialize in gas tank change with junk part…very cheap…maybe (+/-) 100?
better let those people play around with the gas inside that car…don’t let yourself do the dirty work…
oh, phone number btw: 716-297-0010
Thanks for the tip Cal… It’s my buddy’s car. Ball’s in his court now. I told him I’d help him change the tank if he wants, so he’s gonna call his mechanic and see how much he wants then decide. Hank’s Napa told him like $130 for the tank, so we may have at it next weekend.
just did one on my g/f’s Z/24. call the good door store, I got a used one for $75 or so, plus a new sending unit snap ring and seal.
whole shebang was like $95.
in fact, if I am not mistaken, they are the exact tank, GM-39 or -39B? get a pair of decent snap-ring pliers.
