Unless I lost my job, a depression would actually make me a lot of money right now.
Fry:
I thought part of the reason that the Great Depression got so deep was because the federal reserve allowed banks to fail, keeping their powder dry in case of a “real crisis”, instead of acting as a lender of last resort as is one of their stated reasons for existing? Instead they let the money supply shrink and deflation kick our asses? I thought that’s what that Friedman guy won a Nobel Prize for working on anyway…

Well there is that and the amount of stocks bought on margin.
From what I remember(no, I wasn’t around then) the govt held up prices of food to protect farmers, meanwhile people didn’t have enough money to eat. Now they are propping up home values, etc and people don’t have money to buy houses. That may be one similarity that could cause inflation and drag out the bad economy for a decade.
I am no expert though.
I hate to say it but im sitting in my room right now hoping there is a HUGE sell off haha

Yeah maybe. That could make sense.

The AAA was struck down by the Supreme Court before it could have any effect.
And food prices have almost never been an issue in this country.
