How to steal the soul of an FD - SOLD

I’d say about 2". What does the adapter plate look like?

It has an overhang off the tail of the transmission, moving the shifter point backward.

Here’s a shot of mine before the handle came out:

You can see how far back the pivot point is moved. I’ll try to get you a pic of the plate itself.

Hmm…that does make it look pretty nice. Should put positioning very close. Of course, I have a bent shifter handle now which would probably move things too far back with the plate. hmmm…

Not much info on people who have done it.

This is the handle I have.

Damn, you guys are hauling ass! How many duders working on this car?

So, you should be done by about 1PM Saturday at this rate, right :stuck_out_tongue:

Rain is going to make the weekend shitty, but maybe…

2 people working on it mostly. Myself and neonglh. Lots of others have helped, traumadog, Robbie from e30tech, juicedz4, familycargrandprix, mdp47, dmoffitt, theblue, iamspdboy etc etc.

Yes, I guess that would work - it’s just that the movement arc would be different (not quite “horizontal plane”, but more angled vertically, as well as having somewhat longer throws. And honestly, alot of the slop from the OEM shifter is because of the rubber isolater on/around the handle.

Some other designs have come along since 2005, too. It could come down to personal taste… this type of bent-arm handle is what I have with my B&M at the moment.

Edit: here are some examples of the newer short-shifter handles on the market:

The OEM shifter and adapter plate: (BTW - I know a guy selling all this in the pic for $50)

Some rain today slowed me down and I also had to help a friend move…but…

Bumper core support is on.

Attacked some more wiring. I think I figured out what these 2 random relays in my harness are for (AC) and I should only have a couple more wires to splice and run. Sender wires for the gauges are run…

i pulled a pro50 off the shelf, should be done with the trans tomarrow.

Yeah, we got the bumper support bolted on yestrday, and it really is looking more and more like a car every day. I still think we are at the point where we should put the fenders and bumper on, and then temporarily attach the hood, so that we can see clearance issues.

We got the TB back last night, so we shoudl be able to attach that, as well as the intake system.

Brent, I asked johnny about the two lines coming off of the intake manifold, near the TB. The metal nipple is for the EGR system, and we just cap it off. The plastic one on the other side is for the PCV.

Also brent, I think the bolts we used to attach the bumper support (those 4 bolts) are for the shifter. Before i went to bed last night, I remembered using those same bolts to put on johnny’s pro50. We should get more hardware to mount that up, and use those bolts for where they belong.

Yeah, I’d rather buy new bumper hardware anyway, just so it matches. Not that anyone besides the people who are putting it on will ever see…

I have the bolt with me so I can head to Lowes this afternoon. Woo woo!

brass is Evap. not egr

EGR = huge hole in the top of the intake. Right where my LS1 intake mani is hanging from on the wall, because I have an LS6 one now. Score!

Yeah, thats what I said :biglaugh:

So, tons of progress today. Mark and John helped an insane amount, I can’t believe how much we accomplished.

Everything clears!!

John strung the wiring harness and it looks as good or better than stock.

The CAI seems to clear everything. I need to test fit the hood with the radiator in, but I’m guessing it will clear fine. Especially considering it’s going down ~1" when I add rubber to the mounts.

The mounts for now…

WAY more clearance that I expected.

Wiring harness fits great through the firewall and in the engine bay.

Need to figure out why the throttle linkage seems too short…might just make a new bracket for it.

So, that’s what I have pictures of today. Made way more progress than just that, and I’m still hoping to fire it up this weekend (maybe tomorrow).

To get it running, I need to clean up some vac lines, finish the fuel pump wiring and starter/alt wiring, put up the driveshaft and fill everything with fluids…

Unfortunately, I’m a bit unsure as to why my trans won’t shift into 5th right now, but I’m hoping the gearsets are just sitting wrong for it or something. I’d be pissed if the “mint” drivetrain is actually junk…

progress looks amazing. can’t wait for my ride in july

I can’t wait to start giving rides. I have a new set of rear tires waiting to be picked up right now, actually.

RUMBLE:pimp:

she runs?!

god i love this build
