A Derry man is in the Westmoreland County jail today, charged with shooting a man he found asleep beside his estranged wife yesterday.
State police in Greensburg said Robert Cole, 43, arrived at a home on Route 982 at about 7:30 a.m. In the bedroom he found his wife Jessica, 23, asleep next to Anthony Calabrace, a 35-year-old Latrobe man. An argument ensued, and Calabrace reportedly pulled a .22 caliber pistol from under the bed.
The argument continued in the downstairs kitchen, where Cole wrestled the gun from Calabrace and fired at Calabrace’s head.
Cole was arraigned on charges of criminal attempt homicide, assault, endangerment and terroristic threats. Calabrace was treated for a bullet fragment wound at Latrobe Hospital, according to Trooper Jeanne Martin
