I still think it’s possible with enough rope and the car in a high enough gear. I want to try.
I want to watch someone get yanked when they dump the clutch
I would have just whacked the starter with the jack wrench.
It really isn’t that hard of an experiment to set up. My Expedition is automatic and the GTO has a posi rear so neither of those would work well. A 4 cyl ranger or S10 would be perfect. Small motors, usually open diffs, and enough fender room for your rope shenanigans.
I love experiments. How many people can we have? how many Karters does it take to get 3600lbs?
This is going to be a tough experiment to set up. Where are you going to get a land rover, much less a deep sand dune?
if it has a posi just lift up both tires then. I have a camera charged up ready to go.
How would you actually fasten the rope to the idler pulley? Not to mention being able to actually get rope around it with the belt in the way.

Depends how much rope is left on the tire when the clutch is dumped.
i would really like to try this IRL…
Sounds like it might be exciting, go ahead and try it… Make sure to record it for possible LOLs.
I was one of two people bump starting a beat to shit high miles 91 Accord with a shot clutch, and its surprisingly brutal.
It took everything we had, and it BARELY started. Starters are good.
Dude I bump started my 89 civic for a month once when i was 18 bc I didn’t have the money for a starter lol. Yes, it had pretty bad compression, burned a qt of oil every few weeks but it always started like that. I used to roll around parking lots for a while tryin to find a decent hill
im in. lol
NYspeed safari meet?
It could be done. The hard part would be maintaining the balance of the vehicle. You can turn over a V-8 engine with a socket and a foot long ratchet on the crank hub, no reason that a wheel with a much larger diameter wouldn’t work, especially since the gearing is in your favor.
just don’t wrap the rope around your hand if you are pulling on the off chance it does start and the rope gets wound up in the tire and pulls someone in to their death.
Ive seen cars push started in sand before, push the bitch and bump start it game over.
but its deep bill, DEEP!!! super deep!!!
proven?
Was I high when I came up with this? I’ve got my physics back asswards. This would require the most force on the rope of any of these ideas.
This is where it’s at.
8 month bump?
