what is with the random hand in the picture?

As long as there are people that act, dress, and speak in a manor different than
their local majority, there will be racism.
Culture is losing the initiative to better themselves.

Hahahah. Baller attitude. Come down my college street by canisius. Between the college residences are houses with black families that have their 5 kinds and 4 generations living with them. They are part of some government program so they get cheap rent but have leases on 2009 BMW 7 series and Cadillacs in the driveway.

They also walk around and treat people like the world owes them something. That attitude gets a bad rap for the whole race. I know a lot of black people who are close friends and they even hate the people of their race that act this way. Hell, I am ashamed of the way some white people act.

Native Americans, certainly a majority, greeted settlers with open arms and gifts. Does the exception prove the rule here?

Anyways, racism may never fully disappear, but that does not mean it must remain as prevalent in society. Certainly you would agree that there is less racism in the United States today than compared to, say, the 1850s? Why shouldn’t this trend continue?

If Native Americans had known more about the culture or history of those they were greeting, would they have been so quick to make friends?

IMO, The best way to get beyond racism, is to stop living up to stereotypes.

I think their adolescent experiences will determine that. I know plenty of kids that were nice, smart, motivated in school…high school came around…they become neo nazi’s and shit cuz they wanna fit in…

ya never know

to be honest i didn’t really put as much thought into black and white until i minored in african american studies.

i grew up in the middle of a city, going to great schools that did a very good job of giving the real side to the events in history, and making sure there wasn’t a race barrier within the schools. hell i hadn’t even heard 90% of the racial slurs until I got to college
