I Got Paid to Drive Exotic Cars

I wouldn’t buy a 80-100k car at a close to 100k salary.

That being said if I was to do something stupid like that it would probably be something a lot cheaper to repair like a ZR1 Corvette or a slighty used new C7 z06.

I make well over 100k/year and there’s no fucking way I would spend $1,580/month on a car. That’s double my mortgage. I mean, fuck it, if I had that money I’d go buy another house. At least that’s an appreciating asset, not a depreciating asset.

I have 4 cars and I spend about 1/3 of that on all of them combined, including amortized maintenance for the ones that are paid off.

Who would take a 100% loan on an $80k car at 60 months?

There is nothing more American than being upside down on an exotic sports car. Might as well move back in with mom and dad while you’re at it.

I’ll stick with my $8,000 Miata.

I would do that in a second with today’s rates. But only if I could buy the car in cash… It’s better to invest than pay off a lot of stuff right now… I have about 4 loans currently that I could pay in cash, but I don’t for reasons stated.

If anybody wants to loan me money at 1% I’ll take it all…

Would you really want to spend 100k on something that you’re afraid to put miles on?

Lamborghinis probably won’t depreciate much more then their current prices. I believe diablos have actually went up a little in price lately. Gallardos are the most sold Lamborghini ever so maybe they will get cheaper/depreciate.

Also the 80k loan is with no down payment. If someone makes 100k or more I’m pretty sure they could have saved up some money for a down payment.

10k down payment = $1381.60 monthly

20k $1202.36

30k $1023.12

kinda crazy how little it seems to make a difference on the monthly payment with that large of a down payment.

so for a 50k loan it’s $976.07 a month. Think of how many people buy cars in the 50k range that most likely don’t make 100k a year.

100k with tax rates from early and only taking home $1,250 a week =5k a month taken home.

5,000
-1,580

$3,420 left over to spend every month. That’s a lot of money left still, I mean even if your mortagage is like 2k a month then you have $1,420 left on everything else. Is my math wrong or does it seem like 100k a year can afford it, and most likely they will have another vehicle for when the Lamborghini breaks down or needs to be parked til schedule maintenance can be performed. We only get like 6months out of the year to enjoy orlur summer cars, so maybe during winter save up, and then don’t waste your income tax return and use all that money for all the expensive maintenance costs.

i guess you can’t have a 2k mortagage be sued that could be cutting it close with that high of bills.

$1,420 left on everything else

$1,580/2= $790 is that including taxes on the property?

i split my mortgage with my girlfriend and our mortgage per month is $792 with taxes. Our house cost us 85k.

I know it probably sounds funny. But what’s funny is I make $18/hr = $37,440 a year. I take home about $600 a week because I work a couple hours over time each week. $620x4wks=$2,480 take home a month before bills.

$2,480
-$250 car payment
$25 credit card
$60 school loan
$400 half my mortgage
$90car insurance
$40 electric bill
$80. Gas bill it’s not that high yet but soon
$ 200 groceries per month

= $1,335 left over not counting any random buys. That’s my left over monthly at $38k a year

So you’re $46 a month away from owning a Lambo

Lifes good lmao. I don’t feel poor though but yeah no Lamborghini for me. I’m actually planning to buy a winter beater and sell my truck because anything used in the snow gets ruined, I’d rather not pay monthly on something that will rust away.

im actually in the oppositte side of the spectrum in the fact that i have been seriously thinking about selling my 996tt (since 9 times out of 10 im on one of my bikes).

there was a time where i REALLY wanted to trade up to an R8 but that ship has sailed.

now i def think i would be ok with a 10k vehicle (e36 m3 or 2nd gen c10) and just banking the leftover from the sale.

On a much less baller level, at least for the duration of my time in CA, i’ve been thinking the same.

Probably going to sell the A3, pick up a cheap older Tacoma (since they ALL last forever out here) and a more reliable bike. Pocket many doll hairs a month. Shorter commute and traffic, etc.

That 996TT is incredible, and i’m sure you’d be sad to see it go… but it seems you have been ready to move on, in previous conversations.

Should sell it and buy a v8 vantage. One of the best looking cars ever IMO and they can be had for less than 50k

nah. Aston’s dont do anything for me.
Ford has cheapened their “exotic” look.

however i WOULD consider an NSX if it was priced right…but they are still 30-40k which would put me right where i am now with a car that would just sit under a cover.

i also have thoughts of just scooping a driver quality 964 or 930 that can be had around the 20k mark.

needless to say i have no idea what i want to do as of now…

Lol NSX vs typhoon

Just How Fast Was The GMC Typhoon? fast forward to 35sec.

i was actually going to look in another thread that yambag posted in but when you wrote NSX I had to put it here too

If you sell the 996TT…hit me up.

I have been looking to join the NYSpeed Civic club

No shit, that’s funny I just saw a really clean white Typhoon this morning on Millersport.

im at work so i cant see the video but im assuming its just showing that a typoon is faster than an NSX?

kind of a pointless comparison to me.

right now im sure there are a ton of vehicles that are faster than my 911 but would i be caught dead in an srt8 jeep? no.

my point is it wouldnt sway my choice of wanting to roll around like THE WOLF vs rolling around in a 22 year old gmc

996TT to NSX would be an absurd downgrade for a sideways move in initial expense. Interior and engine on them suck balls. But hey at least Honda Oddessy NSX oil changes are cheap and you’ve added the expense of a glass transmission.
