I have no self control v.new car

The BBS wheels are dumb easy to clean, at least my silver ones were, the dirt just waashed off of them with some decent wheel cleaner…

You sure? I just upgraded mine from stuff identical to yours to MKIV DVD… and it now looks nothing like that…

No I have no clue. All I know is there is a dvd deal in the trunk that is the nav unit. I hate all of the radios but people still dish out good coin for them so I bought a nice Pioneer touchscreen unit I will install in a few weeks after this semester is over. Then I will sell this one and not deal with the POS ever again!

links to details on the Nav Upgrade? I have the identical Nav in the Range Rover…

Looks good drew

Ya you have the MKIII not the dvd, it is just a CD rom drive in the trunk.

this is the DVD based nav

  • The MKIII system is installed on all 3-Series produced after 6/2000 and all X5, 5 & 7-series produced after 9/2000 through the end of the 2002 model year.
  • The MKIII system is the only nav version that requires the KeyCD. If you are doing the upgrade on a MKIII that is on Version 15 through Version 17 you will be asked to insert a Key-CD after you complete the upgrade. If you do not have that disk you may be able to obtain a copy from the bmwnav group on Yahoo. MKIII systems that are already on Version 18 or newer will not need a KeyCD in order to upgrade to a newer OS version.
  • For the MKIII based systems, the biggest software change is going from Version 17 to Version 18 (or beyond). This adds the split-screen capability to your system. However, you do loose the OBC+Radio option. It comes down to personal preference, but in my opinion, the new features far outweigh loosing this. Click here for screen shots of the MkIII on a 4:3 screen with split screen working.

  • On the MKIII systems, if you do the upgrade and then install an older software version, the navigation system may reset out of USA mode and put you into UK mode. You will know this has happened if you are now receiving directions in yards instead of feet and the “Emergency” option has disappeared from your main menu. The advantage of this is that you no longer have the annoying “Accept” screen to hassle with every time you turn on the car. To fix this, the dealer can hook the car up to their computer and reset the navigation system to “USA”.

Sweet, it will be on e-bay in a few weeks anyhow. They all suck imo compared to the aftermarket alternatives.

Since I was lazy all winter for some reason and decided to get this seasons list of mods under way. Most of this stuff is OE parts that I just wanted to replace. Although there are quite a few fun aftermarket goodies as well.

Are those official ///M certified floor mats and wheel locks? If not, the bimmer crew will be coming after you.

Wat lol

The floor mats are although I am not aware of ///M wheel locks lol.

E39 cup holders are the WORST! I ordered a blockoff plate for the factory ones and a set of these:

Hope you’re prepared to buy a new trans if you’re going to run royal purple in it.

They don’t take nicely to most conventional “trans oils”

And if you’re going to do the PCV lines you should be doing the plastic chambers that go into the intake as well, as they usually are most of the issue. I would go X5 bushings over Powerflex, and the UUC stop is a waste of money.

UUC clutch stop was free, fuck X5 bushings I can handle powerflex ones I have already driven a car with them, I did get the chambers I forgot them on the list. What trans and diff oil would you suggest because it needs something the trans is horribly notchy.

Factory flush for the trans, Amsoil for the diff.

Any of you e39 boys want brake pads? I still have brand new set of Ferodo Ds2500 laying around.

What viscosity diff fluid? I have seen people using the 75-90 and 75-140. Does the Amsoil have a limited slip additive in it?

Depends on your driving, and you’ll have to add the LSD additive.

Ummm well which one for drives like a huge giant douche? 75-140 I assume.

Changed to the fluids MPD recommended so i don’t have to hear an I told you so. I did a nice detail on the car yesterday and then changed out the chrome kidneys for some black ones and added the ACS style splitters. I think I am adding the dinan swaybar and maybe some other little stuff tomorrow if I am not really hungover. Next weekend I am going to be in Buffalo and the following I will be doing the clutch and everything else listed.
PICS!!!
Sorry i moved the pics just go to this link

I need to lose the front plate bad but the previous owner drilled into the bumper for the bracket. Any idea would be appreciated.

lol, did you buy anything that you actually needed? i hope you went with 75/90 diff fluid and amsoil, or mobil 1 which is what i run. ive never heard of guys using lsd additive or needing to for that matter.
