Anybody else in the shift land share a passion for mountain biking? Here’s a quick video of my brother and I biking yesterday at Hunter Mountain. Its nothing too crazy but I thought I would share. My brother is on the blue bike and I’m on the one with red wheels.

werd, i love that stuff, too bad my bike is from K MARRTT
:nod Right here. I used to own a couple FSR’s for DH/single track and used to ride like crazy out in all the trails/fire roads of Duanesburg where I grew up. Also used to go to Mt Snow a lot for the DH runs there. I have an older Intense M1 that I’m slowly building up again. Have a Marzocchi Monster T fork and some Mavic DH rims for it now. Still looking for some Titec and Race Face goodies and some Hayes disks and I’ll start slapping it back together. Might sell the frame and parts and use that as a deposit on a new GT iT1 :ponder
One sport I seriously do miss doing a lot and need to get back into it again.
Im from Duanesburg too…what year did you graduate?
'98
Oh i graduated 2003…your name doesnt ring a bell but that was a long time ago…ill have to see if i can find some old yearbooks…
Hell yeah! Get a bike its a blast as you know. Also those bushings you cut down for me are still working like a charm on the bike!
Oh yea I forgot I turned those down for you awhile back. Glad they’re still working for ya and if there’s anything else you need me to tinker with just give me a shout.
I’ve been meaning to get another bike together I’ve just have had funds tied up in a bunch of other projects lately. I’m really interested in the iT1 with the internal cassette although I’ve yet to test ride one and have heard reports that the bike isn’t quite uphill-geared friendly. I guess I couldn’t go wrong with another Enduro SL but I’d go and assemble one from the ground up as the prices(~$5K) assembled for what I’d want are rediculous. I’d rather build it myself from a bare 03/4 frame and pay ~3 grand.
My favorite was my old '03 Enduro SL that I had setup with CNC’ed chain stays and shock arm that I made and coupled with a Fox RC gave it 7.2" of rear travel, and a MR-T fork up front. Was a sweet ride. Hayes Purple DH, Mavic’s, XTR rear cassette/derail, Raceface crank w/ single sprocket and chain guide(no derail), Titec steering. ~24lbs of pure adrenalin fun.
Oh why did I ever sell it!!! :headbang :angry2
Where have you been riding lately? Any good free ride/singletrack? god I haven’t been out to the D-burg/cobleskill trails since I sold the FSR in '05
If you ever com out riding in b durg let me know ill put along with my dirtbike :banana
Whatcha got? I can pony up an 01’ CR250 from a friend sometime, although I’m a bit rusty on one of them and would probably get broke real quick!
Ever hit the old trails down off the fire road from Cole Road, or down in the old sand pits past Rt 7 anymore??? I’m not even sure what still open and not overgrown with weeds and brush these days???
Ive got a 2008 rmz 250 …yeah i ride all over duanesburg…the shale pits right past Cole road the bowl up on 7 near the airport…a couple of my freinds have tracks within riding distance. Most of the trails arent realy legal to ride on but noone gives you a hard time unless the cops see you on the railroad tracks. Either way bikes are faster than cop cars on gravel railroad roads…lol me and my freinds used to wait for them to catch up to us and roost the hell out of the front of their cars im a little old to risk getting in trouble like that now though :nono
Boxersix have you looked at all at the GT Sanction? It’ll set you back between $1500-$3000 but its a killer do everything drop off everything jump over shit and still be able to comfortably pedal bike.
Theres some killer riding up in Saratoga off of Daniels road near the Skidmore college stables. Only thing is the land is leased by Saratoga Mountain Bike Association (SMBA) and you have to be a member to ride there. Its only $40 for a season though, and it goes to pay for the lease and insurance and trail maintenance stuff to keep the trails there and in great riding shape. Heres a few shots Ive taken there:
ill have to upload the video of me at jiminy…
right now I ride an 04 giant dh comp, marzocchi shivers alot with a bunch of other schnazzy stuff. I actually also have a set of the 12 inch super monsters sitting in my shed, my head angle was too slack for them. I actually broke the shit out of my frame 2 weeks ago, the shop wants 420 dollars in just parts to fix it. I stripped the threads out of the linkage, but I think i could simply find a place to get it welded shut, then redrilled and tapped.sucks because I haven’t been able to ride my bike at all
have you checked out the giant glory dh?? Its my dream bike !!!
I do some urban free riding in the capital sometimes, its fun with all the staircases and whatnot.
hey adam, let me rock your intense for a bit :)
Actually yea I was looking at that bike too. Only problem is I’m looking for something a little more pedal friendly, rather than a DH specific bike this time around, and trying to keep it under 35lbs.
I’ll let you rock the M1 off some drops. Just need to buy more parts and get it together.
Seems like we have some fair riders here. Trip to Vancouver anyone??!!??!? :bowdown
well, unless i can find somebody to help try and fix my aluminum link on my giant, I’ve got a full bike worth of parts :cool
You’re talking to the guy who can do just that Send me the link and I’ll repair it, cut you a deal on it. :nod
