AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) - A National Grid worker found a car at the bottom of a ravine, in Amherst.
Around 2:35 a.m. the worker was checking a power line in response to a power outage, on Youngs Road.
He found a power pole split in half and a car at the bottom of a ravine. Officers then found the driver lying on the ground near the vehicle.
Amherst Police say, driver 25-year-old Justin Kotas was taken to ECMC with serious injuries.
Police say Kotas’ vehicle was traveling on Youngs Road when it crossed over the northbound lane, struck a guardrail and sheared off the bottom of the utility pole.
According to police, the vehicle also sheared off a small tree before coming to a stop at the bottom of the ravine.
Kotas has been charged with Driving While Intoxicated.
EDIT: Jam, did you click on the FB link? I think it’s a pretty cool story when the kid’s profile brags about driving his car fast and he’s on the news for ending up in a ravine on a perfectly straight section of 45mph speed limit Youngs Rd.
I see that he has been charged with driving while intoxicated. Sounds like a total fucktard but I at least hope he pulls through to deal with the shitstorm he’ll be facing.
