Ok… I have a milliong formulas in front of me for finding multiple regression ®
To find R I need to find a million r’s. Then plug them all into the R formula. Ok- problem is my teacher only teaches how to do it with a statistics calculator and I do not use calculators.
I have a quiz on this tonight at 4:30. I know this is a shot in the dark but does anybody know how to find little r and big R either on a calculator or by using the formulas…
haha… If you are confused don’t worry- so am I. I don’t even know if this post makes enough sense for anyone to get anything out of it. . .
haha… i think i might have figured it out… Statistics is rediculous. I’ve taken it before in highschool and we weren’t allowed to use a calculator until after we plugged in the formulas. This teacher is ‘calculator savvy’ and won’t teach any formulas… he just tells us how to plug it all into the calculator and press enter.
Long story short I might have figured it out and I do not use calculators until I absolutely have to!
seriously buy a ti-83… it will make your life 10 times easier. I know the formula’s but its definitely easier with the calculator. Our teacher was good, he taught us both!
TI-83 is a graphics calculator.
but a TI-89 Titanium, it has a ton of statistical functions (t statistic, and z and chi omega). plus you can hook to your computer type in word and upload. comes in handy on things.

if i had seen this before hand, i could have helped you. I’m an actuary… which for those of you that dont know what that is… it makes me a statistics/calculus expert
but o well… glad you did well!
and the ti-83 was definitely not designed FOR statistics… although, it can be a good tool when needing to find certain statistical measures… regression is one of those that the ti-83 can become your best friend with… other things tho, just go with the BAII Plus… i’m actually not allowed to use the ti-83… BAII plus is the most powerful calc i can use… makes things interesting at first, but once you’re used to it, its really nice.
