I wish more columnists would just speak their minds like this guy...

The truth hurts, but its the truth. They have doubled in population, which means they are doing nothing to help themselves, besides fuck like rabbits. So why shoud we continue throwing money at them. Like everthing these days, where does it stop? Again our attempts to help, have done nothing but prolong, and intensify a situation.

A bit jaded, but there is piercing truth in this statement:

For self-serving generosity has been one of the curses of Africa. It has sustained political systems which would otherwise have collapsed.

Reminds me of that hurricane last year that devastated Burma, and the government wouldn’t let in our aid workers. We should have dropped guns, not food. Let the people under an oppressed government help themselves. Granted that worked really well in Afghanistan…

The worst part is, I don’t feel like an asshole at all for agreeing. The whole world should slow down the reproducing. If you have trouble feeding yourself and rely on free aid to survive, why the hell would you create a child?
I understand the urge of sex but, there has to be a reason(benefit) other then accidental babies that these people are having all these babies.

The money typically stays with the governments and is not used for what it is intended (or some sort of perceived intention).

Good read and I totally agree. We need to do the same thing here at hme though; stop throwing money at people that contribute nothing to society except the creation of more non-contributors.

Somewhat morbid but stemcell research? Not that I could tell any parent we are taking away your child for research since you fucked up as a parent but still an idea

I knew there was a reason I liked you

there is a book that is called “The aid that wasnt there” its about how just sending all kinds of money to africa is a bandaid solution and is only a temporary solution t best. it was a really good read and made a lot of sense.

This is why I don’t give to foriegn charities. The tsunami being the only exception.

Fantastic!

No.

Educated men and women from good families with strong prospects should be reproducing 2-3x more often than we are right now.

It’s everyone else who should slow down.

I’ve also had this idea that may never come to fruition; it’s about creating an international charitable efficiency metric. Something along the lines of the % of the dollar given that is actually used for effective Aid. A second metric would be the effective chariably donated cost of delivering a single bag of rice to the opposite side of the planet.

I bet that for every $100,000 given the charitable organization only delivers about $5k worth of actual aid and that the average cost of delivering a single $4 bag of rice to feed the people of Darfur is about $1000 donated.

If there were a standard for these measures (slightly refined of course) then the many charitable organizations who compete for charitable funding would be forced to get more efficient because funding would eventually move to those organizations that are the most effective. Moreover, it would end funding for charitable fronts that don’t actually deliver any aid, of which there are many.

Seriously, someone has to find a hosted copy of the first 5 minutes of idiocracy.

excuse me but we don’t tolerate logical thinking in these parts.

Yeah that is the way it should be. I agree 100%. The people who can bring and support children who will be able to make positive differences in the world should be reproducing A LOT.

I wish I could say I’m 100% right but I don’t have any data to prove that the Earth is being stressed with all these people on it.

The people who should not be reproducing know who they are and if they do get accidentally they won’t take the measures to stop the pregnancy because of no money or religious belief. Maybe they don’t even use contraception because of their beliefs.

Some of the disease and pollution problem is the massive amount of people there is on this planet.
