Immortal biowarfare organisms?

Discuss.

Researchers are reportedly intent upon creating a new breed of species implanted with death-resistant molecules and “tamper proof” cells. In the event that one of their programmed pawns decides to go rogue, however, engineers can simply activate a so-called “self-destruct” option, which would facilitate the “nefarious removal” of any treasonous organism.

Wow. :run:

that’s some scary sounding shit right there

Zombies

WTF… how is that even possible, and why would they tell the public about it?

Thats cool.
I don’t see how it could possibly go wrong. How else are we going to protect the planet from aliens after we destroy ourselves?

Does no one watch Omega Man… seriously

:krazyjon:

This reminds me of that metallica video.

It’s not as “big” as it should be it seems, I haven’t heard much about people protesting. It’s weird how this is protested less then cloning.

Yes! First successful use of the “borg” emot since I joined!

Obama is making an immortal army

“an ambitious plan that, if successful, would spawn a whole army of genetically engineered organisms programmed to fight the good fight – until the end of time. Researchers are reportedly intent upon creating a new breed of species implanted with death-resistant molecules and “tamper proof” cells.”

Huh?
I have read the article twice and I still don’t know what it means.
Is this some new “creature” they can teach to fire guns? lol
Seriously, I don’t get it.

Interesting…So organism could be anything from bacteria meant to metabolize toxins and other poisons and shit out harmless oxygen in the event of a gas attack, or genetically enhanced soldiers that can regenerate if wounded kinda like Wolverine. Eh guess it was a matter of time until science decided to do that. 6 mill kind of seems like a small amount for something like that though. Specially if the research is going to be on “human scale”. It would still be pretty interesting to see what comes out of this.

This would be a micro-organism, I think one that would potentially have the same affect as a disease like AIDS. It would be incurable because the organisms are “immortal,” but if we accidentally got infected by it we have the self-destruct thing built in.

It’s basically the other end of the spectrum of war - Nukes are the ultimate equalizer, this would be the other ultimate destructive tool.

Edit:
If I understand correctly, we could administer this organism and it would effectively clear out entire cities of people, without contaminating said city at all.

I have seen this on a few sites over the past week.

Once of those things probably better left un-invented.

Yeap, like that collider.

People keep sticking thier nose where it dosent belong.

No, the collider is just misunderstood by the public and tinfoil hat wearers.

Ever see “I Am Legend”?

Yeah were fucked.
