2. what is your reasoning for thinking it won’t hold up?

i mean, an SUV isn’t really for hauling shit… your truck is… your trucks’ max hauling capacity isn’t even 3000lbs more than the suv, so whats your reasoning for thinking it can’t tow?

i like the idea of a ‘smaller’ SUV… big trucks are not my thing.

I bought my truck specifically for towing a car. I bought a 2 wheel drive, 2500 hd crew cab. 4 people are real comfy in it, we’ve had as many as 7. Still have the 6.5 ft bed so it’s still useful for other truck things and the cab does not stink like gas or oil. Only problem it’s a big ass truck to park in any urban setting. Everyone who rides in it is impressed with the way it rides, and it’s real smooth with some weight in the bed. I’ve yet to come any where close to the trailering limit and can still run 80 all day with what I need to tow. I was looking at Suburbans at the same time and am way happier with this truck. I’m only disappointed that the fiberglass cover I bought for the bed only lasted 2 years. I’m not trying to talk you out of an suv, but there are lots of benefits to the truck route. Sometimes I kind of wish I went the 4 x 4 route with it, but that was another 3 grand and worse gas milage.

My husband got an 04 F350 HD Superduty Diesel V8 w/ crew cab and the xl bed and that thing is a monster, he could tow our house for gods sake in that monster, the rear seat is HUGE too. BUT like you said George, it’s a PITA to park or anything like that in an “urban setting” (dammed thing is 21 feet long and only fits in the driveway catty cornered)

I can understand not wanting a big truck in the city. When I lived in the city, I had a Ranger 4x4 Off Road and I felt like I was driving an urban assault vehicle down there. I can’t imagine what it would be like with a 2500HD.

btw, vw makes a v10 turbo diesel that’ll own as well… if i were really going to tow… but that’s about $15k more.

i was just about to suggest that. dude you dont need an suv. just get a rabbit truck and swap a TDI into it. i bet it can tow a trailer with the rabbit on it.
