05 Silverado 1500. These pictures are from the night we brought it home. I had to take it back the week I got it and have the Tubular Chorme Side steps put on sinc ethey had it on the invoive but forgot to put them on, and I have a black tonneu cover also…
I know you may not ever tow over 7000 lbs, but do you really want a vehicle by time you add in trailor weight and vehicle weight being about 300lbs under what your max is? The vehicle especially some of those SUVs will start to struggle.
If I have to pick up parts, they go in a bed that can be hosed out. I don’t have to worry about the interior. Interior is just as nice as a suv. Yes, an suv can do everything my truck can do, but my truck can do more than an suv. How many people are you going to have with you? Are you going to need a thrid row seat? Again, if you want an suv go for it but if you are going to be doing a lot of towing, picking up engine blocks, carrying tools and oil and gas to the track do you really want that in the inside of your $32,000 suv? Do you have an enclosed trailer? I have a 2001 Silverado 2500 HD crew. A truck was just a better choice for me when I sat down and thought about what I was going to be using it for. If you have an enclosed trailer, access to your dad’s truck when you need to pick up messy parts than a suv might be the way to go. I won’t tow anything close to 10,000 lbs, but it’s nice to know I can…
I was going to go with the 2500 HD (and could have walked out with one) but we decided the 1500 Silverado LT was a better choice for options and gas milage staying under the 41k mark. Our Truck was stickered at $38,500
How long do you need it to hold up? I’ve never held on to a car more than six years, so it would have like 60-75k miles on it when disposed of. It’s not like it’s primary role would be pulling a trailer anyways.
What I mean is, in the begining of the vehicles life it may do that but when you hit that 3rd, 4th, 5th year mark and stuff is getting broken in will it still perform as it did when you need it to or are you going to be breaking shit left and right…
Right but he is saying he would be towing his car so somthing like that would either fail or be to uncertian. Plus if there is that much of a difference between braked and not braked, how much force does the trailor have to have in its breaking system to make up that difference. If you get a trailor with a weak break is it night night time?
Yeah, if you are real serious you can rock the dually. Was just more than what I needed.
My truck is not as nice as Sight N Sounds, no leather. I ordered mine before they hit the streets and should have waited a couple of months - there were no rebates or anything when I bought mine. Sticker was a little over $31,000. Luckily my dad worked for GM so I get a discount. I’ve even ridden in and drove the diesel and it’s not as smelly or loud as I thought and you can do sick stuff to them to get lots and lots of torque.
i hear ya… although, there is no fucking way in hell your chevy’s interior is as nice as the volvo or vw that i posted… that’s beside the point.
i wanted it for traveling… so that’s the primary use, not towing and not hauling… second would be towing my cabby… figure the car weighs 2600 (should be a deal lesst han that) … so i’m not going to need much… 1000 - 1500 lbs trailor and what, 100 in tools?
i have no trailor… because currently i don’t have the need to tow anything!
i see your point 100%… but at the same time, i don’t know you or what you do… as you don’t know me or what i do… i mean, i don’t haul things… ever… last thing i hauled was leather couches from levin :kekegay: i work downtown and will be living in the city… i’m not oging to be mud bogging or working on a house / yard… don’t really need to have the ability to tow and get dirty… don’t tow shit for work, however i do drive to wheeling, princeton, and philly…
i do’nt know… we’ll see what i come up with…
and i drive 4clys, so a block can be put on the passenger floor of my car! haha… do’nt think it’ll be an issue gettingone in the back of an suv!
hell, in a week i might realize i don’t need it and move on… we will see. thnx for teh input though!
