Infrared Grilling!

Infrared grilling kills it son :-o

Uses infrared heat instead of conventional convection to cook. Supposedly uses 1/3 the gas and 1/2 the cooking time, while eliminating flareups. Best part is it sears the food and locks in all zee juices.

Tastes Better

Simply put, cooking on an infrared grill can make your food taste better. It starts with the high temperatures that infrared gas grills can achieve. High heat allows for a better sear, locking in juices and flavors. Infrared burners also are easily adjusted and have a very uniform temperature distributution, ensuring that your meat is cooked uniformly and to your liking. Finally, the design of most infrared grills allows for drippings to be instantly vaporized before a flare-up occurs, creating a smokey flavor.

Less Time

Let’s face it… prep time is no fun. Using an infrared grill can dramatically reduce the time it takes to get your meal ready, so you spend more time eating and less time cooking. It starts with a rapid warm up. The high output of an infrared grill quickly preheats your cooking surface. The hightened heat levels also allow cooking times to be much shorter. Finally, cleanup on most infrared grills is a breeze… simply set them to “clean”, and in a few minutes any extra drippings will be reduced to ash!

Saves Money?!

Believe it or not, using an infrared grill can actually be cheaper than a conventional charcoal or gas grill. The biggest savings is in reducing the amount of fuel required. Since the grills pre-heat and cook much faster, the grill is using fuel for a much shorter amount of time. Easy cleanup and effecient burner design means that your grill might last longer as well. So while you may end up paying a bit more upfront for a new infrared grill, it could end up saving you money in the long run. How’s that for an excuse to get a new grill!

We did steak shish-kabobs last night with fresh red, yellow, and green peppers, onions and portabellos; brushed with Devil’s Spit BBQ sauce, and I added some hickory chips to the lower grill…

omfg. We’re doing Chivetta’s tonight.

Anyone else have one or have experience with one? The toughest part about it is getting used to the cook times and how hot things should be. Mine pegs the triple thermometers at over 800+ degrees :eek3:

I was looking at that one the other day… If I had the $$ I would’ve grabbed it. It sounds like it might be worth it…

interesting, what is “infrared” about it? I assume its just propane with different types of burners?

Isn’t this the bigger version of those like food wave things you see at 2am on TV? Seems like a solid concept.

I sell these if anyone has questions…

Decent grill for the price

“Char-Broil® Quantum® uses a combination of infrared and convective, open-flame heat to create a unique grilling experience. Infrared heat radiates off of the solid surfaces while convective or open-flame heat rises through the small engineered perforations of the infrared emitter”

It doesn’t dry the food out.

Also, there’s a lifetime warranty on those burners, and the stainless steel grates are dishwasher safe

Bitchin’ man, I didn’t know that.

I work at Lowes (Inside Lawn and Garden) on NFB, if anyone needs help with these grills, look for me… I work most nights.

Can you offer any deals on these?

At most 10% off on a good night, depends on what store managers are working.

^ I got the 10% on the grille and a brand new full tank.

I’m a low and slow over lump charcoal kinda person.

In a perfect world, yeah… it’s the end all be all, but I typically don’t have that kinda time sadly. Propane for me

They have these things called ovens that cook pretty much the same way, however they’re not outside so they’re way less cool.

If it’s nice out and you’re in the kitchen cooking on the oven/stove…you better have boobs and a vagina.

I thought about this…ended up going Weber Genesis. With halfway decent maintenance it will last longer than I plan to live in Buffalo.

Yes i have been getting into the smoker recently. The flavor is WAY better. But like stated you better have some free time. I still make good use of my Propane standard grill  For those nights when it must be cooked quickly.

<— Is glad that it is grilling season!

If you use a charcoal chimney, it only takes 10-15 minutes for about 4 lbs of charcoal. I can wait for that.

I have this exact grill! It’s been great. It’s kind of a pain to clean. I try to grill everything on the center grill so I only have to clean that one section. It does keep stuff nice and juicy though!
