interior lighting and door question

hey, my friend’s 91 240sx has the lighting by the floor of his car…like when u open the door, the light comes on under the driver side where the pedals are, and the passenger side under the glove box…, my 93 i recently bought doesnt light up, just outta curiosity, is this just a light bulb that’s down there? was it optional on trim levels? his is an LE, mine is an SE…

i tried to search, but just came up with FS threads on interior parts…

and for my 2nd question, when i sit inside the car, and push on the driver’s side door the “door open” signal on the cluster lights up, and my interior lights come on…i know this is because the little “button” on the side of the door when u open it, opens up and the car thinks the door is open…is there a way to tighten this? or is there a way to make the door stiffer? it’s because i want to install a security system, but with this problem, the alarm might go off randomly due to this…

PS unless i close the door really hard, it sometimes will be “open” with the interior lights coming on…i found this out when i had a dead battery one morning…so now i turn the interior lights off…but just wondering if there is an easy way around this…

The foot light is not on every trim level.

You might be able to play with the door switch and move it closer or further… I’m not sure if it’s threaded or not… I would assume it would be. Either way, you’ll get a better idea of what’s goin on if you take off the interior rear side panel.

The S13 door switches are not threaded… but you can space them with a small washer if its not close enough.

Unfortunalty mike the same method won’t help you with your “deep penetration” problem Gonads mom was telling me about.

hmm i dont really know what you mean by spacing it out since i havent looked at it closely yet, i’ll get to that soon and see if that fixes the problem, it’s only a problem ont he driver’s side, like if i push the door out, but the passenger side is fine and doesnt trigger the “open door” light…

oh bytheway, on my cluster, the clock doesnt light up, i mean backlight, it works, jus tno backlight, is this just a simple bulb to replace in the cluster?
