Well the reason why I am doing the swap all comes down to price,power,and practicality.
Price. Well the ls1 swap will produce just about as much hp and perhaps more tq than a e46 m3. Only for about around $10000 cheaper. They are also much more cheap to mod and get big hp numbers out of them.
Power. As I said just your basic bolt ons will out do a s motor no problem in with it being half the cost as said before.
Practicality. Lets face it the lsx motors are practically bullet proof. and maintenance and upgrading the motor is easy as hell. Parts are also easy to find.
The ls1 motor weighs about the same as my I6 iron block thats already in my car so I dont have to worry about my weight distribution getting thrown off. I just think of it all this way.

Pretty much spot on, yep. The key advantages to an LSx swap are how cheap power gains for the LSx motors are, especially compared to BMW motors. It’s not like you can turbo an S52 and expect 400 HP no problem.
