whats the difference between a gsr, ls and b16 tranny…I have a tranny here that im trying to get rid off but not too sure wether is a gsr tranny or ls tranny…How can i tell…WHen i bought it for my lsvtec swap i was told it was a gsr tranny, thats why i bought it, but as some of you already know, im out of the honda game so everything must go…
so anyways…Is there anything to look for in, on, (<–whatever) this tranny that would tell me exactly what it is…? the only thing i know is that is a HYDRO tranny…lol other than that im not too sure…
see…I know its not an lsd, because the one from the jdm one i had was an lsd and it didnt have that bar in between, but now this one has one…I doubt its a type R tranny…
see what i dont get is that my usdm gsr tranny that i have on my civic has a stamp on it with a vin code, this one doesnt…and it dont even look like the tranny had one on it…The stamp on my tranny has rivets<–or whatever thats called, and this one doesnt have anything so even if they tried to pull the vin code out, it would still leave a mark or something IMO…I tried to contact the previous owner but his phone is somehow diconnected…and i dont know exactly where he lives…all i know is that it was somewhere in cheektowaga…not sure where though… i met him at that KMART plaza…
ohh and i tried calling john but he didnt answer his phone…He might know…anyways…The guy that wants to buy it said he would contact john so they can take a trip over to my house to look at it…
i also told him to take it and have it checked out at hybrid con. or something so they can look at it…
There are no real physical outwardly appearing differences but there are tags with numbers that might give some idea…the only way other than that to know would be to either spin the mainshaft with the tans in gear and calculate the ratio. Or take it apart and see what kind of differential is in it as the LS and B16 are the same and the GSR is like an H22
