Hey I picked up this turbo today. The seller said its “mint” with no shaft play and is in good condition… For $135 that sounds like damnnn nice deal. I drive an hour up there to pick it up and this is what he hands over…
Is this thing toast? Is it worth putting in my car running stock boost? The blades are super close to rubbing.

K I just gave the guy a call and he is saying you guys are all wrong lol. He says that the shaft play is normal (it went from him saying no shaft play to normal shaft play lol). He says he wont have the money till the end of next month! He said he will check out this thread today. I cant wait for his reply. I have a feeling this sh!t is gonna turn ugly fast

jokes aside though, make sure you know what you’re getting before buying it. some people will always try to tell you everything is mint.
for next time, check youtube and type in bad turbo shaftplay or good turbo shaftplay and see the difference between something considered bad and something considered good! (y)
okay so i sold him the turbo and i got this turbo from VLAD aka allesserfate worked good for him… I’m not on expert on turbos but from what I know a tiny bit of shaft play is normal I have owned a brand new gt28rs and even that had a little bit of play… I have a blown ct26 in my garage that has shaft play and you can tell the shaft is fucekd… Anyway that video does make it seem worse then it was in person im not sure… you took your time and looked at it I even removed the air filter inlet so you can feel for it… you bought it as is. I would just give you your money back if I could but I don’t have the funds rite now… you could go ahead and bolt it on let me know how it works for you but like i said it didnt smoke and worked fine for the last owner.

buyer is an idiot for not checking the turbo till he got home. check the hot side, is it all chalky and dry, or does it look as if oils got to it?
