im looking to convert some of the movies i have in .iso format to .avi format, but im not sure on the best way. ive searched google, but i want to know what you guys use. would like something that doesnt give much/any picture quality loss. thanks
.iso is a CD image format and .avi is a movie format.
I would use UltraISO to mount the .iso image to say drive G: for example and the use a DVD ripper to rip straight from the image (G)
ok?
they are 2 totally different formats and its not how things are done. I don’t know of any program that makes that conversion directly
lol. this is like asking converting a zip file to a avi.
:word:
im not specifically looking for a program. im just looking for a good way to do it. if it means taking a few steps, im ok with that. and i know what file types they are, i dont need it explained to me. if you know how to do it, reply. if you dont, then please dont reply so i dont have to waste my time reading ur posts that aren’t gonna help me.
THERE IS NO WAY TO CONVERT AN .ISO to .AVI.
If you are ripping the MPEG2 out of a SVCD, you need to extract the .DAT (ASEQ.DAT or something like that) file out of the MPEG2 directory.
Like I said before, an ISO is a CD IMAGE file and an .avi is a video file format. An ISO is not like stem cells where it can become ANYTHING, it doesn’t work that way.
is there a good dvd ripper you’d use to rip from the image to an avi?
This one seems to be reasonably pain free:
thanks. i downloaded that actually a couple hours ago. gonna try it out tomorrow.
