J. Shockey (TE) no longer a New York Giant

Story here: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3498795

Verified by the New Orleans and New York Giant team websites that the trade was approved by both sides and only pending league approval and Shockey’s physical.

Shockey should be a good fit for the Saints as he’s reunited with his former offensive coordinator in Sean Payton and an already potent New Orleans offense.

The G-men will pick up 2 picks next year, which should prove helpful as they need to get younger at a lot of positions on both sides of the ball.

thats fuking stupid
why the hell would they do that. shockey = giants. period

If you didn’t notice they won a few playoffs games and the Super Bowl with him drinking beers in a luxury box with a broken leg ::slight_smile:
I’m not a Giants fan, but he’s hardly “the Giants”. He’s all about him and not the team, it’ll be interesting to see if he settles down and stops being such a d-bag now that he’s playing for Payton again who harnessed him in NY when Shockey first came into the league.

He’s a good player, but if your going to trade someone of that caliber atleast get more than a second round and fifth round drfat pick, ghey

ya i noticed, my fam is HUGE on giants…and im not… lol. but he is all about himself, but its wont be the same idk, its like tom brady going to the st louis rams… ok so not like that. F it. all in all i bet he’ll be making less

2nd and a 5th round pick is good value IMO for the Giants. New Orleans offered them a 3rd and a 5th during this years draft and they refused…to still be able to deal Shockey this late and move up a round is impressive.

Remember what the Patriots gave up for Randy Moss? I do - a FOURTH ROUND pick…ONE pick…you think Shockey should command that type of value over Moss? I don’t…the Giants did very well.

safe move for the GIANTS. They don’t need him, they got a good offer, they took it… I’m a big Shockey fan, but I can’t be mad at this decision.

shutup

:confused

Agreed.

Big fan too but the fact that he wasn’t down with his team during the Super Bowl and his selfishness bothers me. The sad thing is that he can really be a playmaker with his ability to cause major mismatches.

Sometimes losing a good player is a GOOD thing.

did you watch the superbowl?

The Giants wouldnt let him on the sidelines during the Super Bowl, he was on crutches and had just had surgery, if a play went out of bounds and he got hit he could have hurt it more.

Im glad they traded him, they got alot back from him IMO and they got rid of a player who not only is an asshole but he didnt want to tplay for the Giants anymore anyways. Im suree Jerry Reese will do a good job with the draft picks.

Thank you for clarifying this.

to be honest, i am very biased to any trades with draft picks, because first off you never know what kind of player your getting, what was that qb’s name, ryan leaf i believe? Shockey can play now, and to not be trading for a player playing now that you know is in good standing is somewhat stupid to me, grandted anything can happen in the nfl, i just wouldnt trade any player for any draft pick if i were a GM. Most players dont stay with the teams that drafted them anyways. I dunno, to me a draft pick is insignificant in most scenarios.

Right but you do realize that Shockey didnt want to play for the Giants right? Hes a jackass to begin with, he drops a ton of balls, he commits stupid penalties and now on top of that he doesnt even want to play for them anymore after they win the super bowl. The Giants are Super Bowl Champs right now, they dont have to put up with his shit anymore.

Fuck the Giants…

Fuck whoever you like, Giants are SUPER BOWL CHAMPS

…probably a cowboys fan
