JP EVENT: Spring Drift Matsuri At Ebisu

Another Ebisu Circuit Matsuri event has recently wrapped up and a time of thrashing it was. Total cars on hand was close to 500 as told by track owner Kumakubo. Possibly setting a new record for the annual spring event.

Friday, a day earlier before the normal weekend event, a G1 GP was set up. This was round two and this time held on the D1 pro Minami (South) course. Total of 16 drivers entered. Most of which were Australian and over visiting to run there pre-purchased mules.

Few shots from the Friday’s event.

Japan based Andy & Alexi running in this one. Watching the cars come in 3rd gear is pretty intense. This is really the only way to attack the Minami entry to achieve proper scoring.

Shane Bingham spotted in this one running his S&S Drift Kansai team 180SX. Not entirely fond of the pig nose front but have a look at those rear arches. All metal. Bozozuko style comes to mind. Shane and his crew just completed the whole car including paint work a day before the event.

For any one coming to Japan and staying in the Kansai area, this one is for rent. She’s got proper spec for a drift car.

Here’s a Type M some may be familiar with. Was sold off to Adam Z. about two years ago. He’s been running it since. Well at least up to Thursday when it was sold to Nathan Wiessel, a pro-Aussie drifter which came over for the Matsuri event. She’s kept at the track now and Nathan will have a go at her in August for the summer event.

Breaking to the paddock here. This super hot orange 180SX belongs to Naoko Suenaga. Runs the car on the street. Basic bolt on car with S15 turbo, S15 injectors and ROM tune for an easy 290PS.

Personal S14 sitting in just behind. Waiting eagerly for some timed runs on Saturday.

S13 Vert here. Actual Tokyo Drift demo car for the Odaiba exhibition. And yes, that’s a board in the rear passenger area. Meant for the race queens to prance around on.

Back on track, here’s Chris in his S14 K’s coming in real hot. Another pro-Aussie drifter which has just recently moved over to Japan. Chris was mentioning that from the time he went pro back in Australia, his driving ability decreased due to the shortage of real time practice. So the choice was made to rewind and he made the move to Japan.

Another Aussie pro-drifter here. Stewy’s R32 with RB26 power. Decent little package including a whopping T78 turbine. By the end of the weekend this thing was pretty banged up.

Suenaga out on the Minami course with Andy chasing in behind. M’s Sport kit looks spot on tough from every angle.

Another Aussie drifter. Name doesn’t come to mind right now. Believe this was his second Matsuri in the 90.

This is by far the safest car to get into drifting with. You really can’t beat the rock solid build of these older Toyota’s.

Jay from Australia in this one. Jay runs BuddyParts and actually bought two cars for this event. One being this insane JZZ30 Soarer as seen below and the other a fairly well sorted Levin coupe.

The Soarer was a real fruity weapon of choice. Fitted with loads of parts including big T78 single, cams, injectors, ikeya formula arms and tons more.

Beginning shot of what this weapon looked like. Pretty nice eh?

And by the end……

Japan based Stuart Stirling in his A31 Cefiro. Basic RB20 car with boost up mods. If im not mistaken Stu lives in Nihonmatsu where Ebisu is located. Lucky guy. Can attack any course at pretty much any time.

Will cut it here for now with this final shot of Saito Daigo in his JZX90 Missile coming in super hot on the Minami course. More to come….thanks for watching!

Nice pics. I would love to go to a super hardcore drift event this summer.

I am noticing a pattern on all the Aussie driver cars…No?

FEAST JAPAN never disappoints

X2, where you been Adam? Great stuff!

Man, that Soarer got destroyed :frowning:
