just joined the house crew

Well, I’m not well known here, but am more active here now than I am on Roclife. I finally took the plunge today and signed my life away. Got myself a nice little 3br 1ba in Johnson City, NY, which is basically part of Binghamton. Mostly redone inside, with room to improve on the outside. Been living in it for 5 days now and I am extremely happy with it, but also have a large to-do list from it.

I do have to say, the threads of other’s projects have been very helpful.

And here are some pictures for those interested…

First, the outside of the house. I mowed, weeded, added the solar lights

Then there is the garage, with all three cars present.

It’s illegal to build a new one, and frowned upon by banks and insurance agencies, but this one has survived. Already used it to help replace the AC compressor on the Previous owner’s F150 when it died out front.

Here is the backyard, which is Maddy’s (the dog)

Ok, now for the interior

Here is the living room with the temp furniture. We are getting the Martin sofa collection from Raymour and Flanigan incase you want to see what will be in there.

Here is the Dining Room.

And the kitchen, which is a mess from dinner, and Laura and the girl she tutors

And finally the basement. All the drywall will come out, and in time something new will go in there.

SO there it is. As of 4:30 today, it’s finally mine. And it actually ended up costing less than expected for closing, so that was good.

Now hopefully I can follow some of the projects people here have posted about (decks anyone?)

What is wrong with that child, she has that look frozen on her face.

Did she star in the ring?

Nice pickup though! (the house)

looks good man gl. Love the garage

f*ckin word to the middle bay hole. good buy sir.

yep, it sure is exciting when you first get your house. Dont worry though, it wears off realy quick when you start working on it.

nice garage…thats exactly what the first thing i will be looking for in a house

congrats! http://smiliesftw.com/x/highfive.gif

way to be the one who picks on the kid with “up syndrome”… you’re such a douche.

“It’s illegal to build a new one, and frowned upon by banks and insurance agencies, but this one has survived. Already used it to help replace the AC compressor on the Previous owner’s F150 when it died out front.”

please explain what this means…

my only guess may be that it’s considered a “confined space” ?

hey congrats man. that’s really exciting. i know johnson city well. i used to hang out in binghamton all the time.

nice buy i really am loving the garage.

That’s been my hardest part in looking at houses. Finding one with a nice garage.

Nice garage! I’d take that ugly awining down over the door.

X…

Grease pits, so far as I understand it, are illegal to add (atleast here) and usually are not fond of with insurance companies due to the higher risk of injury possible with them. As for the mortgage, there were a lot of things that the mortgage company would not clear me to have, and this I was told might have been a show stopper unless filled in, but they never said anything about it.

As for the awning, it’s going to stay for a little while until the funds are there to put a porch on the front of the house, which might be next spring. Right now the curb appeal is lacking, but there are plans to fix that when funding allows.

Which reminds me, anyone was to buy a 97 Tahoe LT with 140k for $3.5k to help me fund it?

Nice garage.

My requirements for a house are going to be a bed, a bathroom and at least a 4 car garage. I dont care if my garage is larger than my house.

Congrats

Congratulations on joining the club. Next time put clothes on when taking pictures so that girl doesn’t get so freaked out.

I came in here expecting a dance music thread… what is this shit?
