justa4door needs a vacuum.

fuck that review … the thing picks up everything …

orrr i could do a DIY with pic and such

BUMP…

Clean Baldy is now looking for a bagless upright!

Budget, $300 MAX.

I have been reading a lot of reviews on vacuums and with all good vacuums there are always horrible reviews to be found.

I was going to get a Bissell Healthy Home for $250, until EVERYONE complains that it is too heavy to want to use.

Then I looked into a cheaper Bissell Pet Hair Eraser for $170, and apparently it works great at first and then loses suction before the year is up!

That’s just two reviews and I"m stuck. I can’t spend over $300, but I need a nice bagless upright.

Note: I have no pets, have 3 rooms of carpet and a 12" tile kitchen and bathroom. No stairs, thankfully. I’m a clean person and just need a vacuum that works. Perhaps one that can also help me clean the car in summer time… and the furniture…

Only downside being the smaller canister than the regular dyson.

i bought a dyson dc18 for cheap yesterday… best vac i ever used.

edit: i seen jay just posted my vac. the canister works great.

^
will something this small compare to the big 12Amp versions? That looks like a kitchen vacuum… and it’s $300…

At the moment I have a crappy $50 canister type which was a pass-me-down… and it blows (literally.) I had the canister in the kitchen while vacuuming the living room rug, and when I went to turn it off I saw that all of the dust and crap was all over my kitchen floor! It just sucked it up one end and blew it out the other…

I guess the real question: Will I be happy with the $300 dyson over a $100 vacuum that is bigger? Or is the price just paying for the name?

This vac picked up things that i never knew could be in the carpet. It was excellent on the carpet. On hardwood floors it doesnt pick up as much but thats because theres not as much dirt on hardwoods as there is as carpets. The thing glides and turns with ease. Setup out of the package is 3 steps and its all set to use. The canister is a breeze to empty. Not to mention its slim for storage. I only used it for one day so far and i acutally like vaccuming. I bought the 2nd to last one at best buy yesterday… it was on the top high shelfs where no one could reach… the employee hide the other one.

Dysons are the BOSE of the vacuum world.

i would never pay 300+ for a dyson but for this price i couldnt resist. they are discontinuing the dc18.

I couldn’t bring myself to paying for a vaccuum, so the gf went out and got a 100 dollar Bissell or something bagless. It works, it gets used once a month by her, I don’t care about it at all. It works awesome I think, the carpet is clean

:picard:

Maybe try owning one or talking to someone who actually owns one instead of reading reviews that were paid for by Hoover.

Can the DC-18 clean my couch? I just called the girlfriend who said “Well, that’s nice… $300 of good carpet cleaning. Can it clean the couch like the $200 bissell?”

So, there’s the new question

In true manly fashion I usually just toss the whole vacuum up on the couch because I’m too lazy to go grab the turbine brush attachment out of the office.

Looks like the DC18 doesn’t come with the turbine brush though.

What vacuum do you own?

bagless is NOT the way to go. I had one. empty the cup and you release the dust.

Cannister is the way to go. Looked at the Dyson. Soooo wimpy. Look at the hose they use compared to the next brand…no supporting coils, so when you bend it, it will kink, shutting off suction. All others use a thick hose that bends nicely.

I got this one on sale the other week. It is the strongest bagged. Why? Open it up. Instead off pulling vacuum at the back of the back (like all others), the entire cage is open, creating a full windtunnel. Could not believe the junk I picked up.

I went to BestBuy and they don’t carry the DC18 anymore. They have the DC24 which is small… and costs $400 instead of $300 :frowning:

The canister vacuum above is also too much.

Dyson DC07 that we got at BJ’s about 4 years ago. None of the problems Jetlounge talks about (who I’d be willing to bet has never tried a dyson either). I would NEVER buy another vacuum that uses bags, regardless of what my budget was.

The dyson, when you take the part that needs to be emptied off the vac it’s all still closed. You put the whole thing in the garbage, pull a trigger on the top, and the bottom flap opens up. No dust flying everywhere, no dirt spilled, just a good design.

There aren’t a lot of products that I’m brand loyal to, but Dyson is one of them. Two people in my family have them now and say the same things, and one of them is my grandmother who always buy “the best”, including one of those $2000 rainbows.

That bet would be lost. Read my brief review and you’ll see I actually tried one in store and compared it to others.

If you love your Dyson, then bully for you. Most expensive or sexy colors does not always equal “the best”.

God, you guys are really intense about your vacuums for something that should never be touched by a male once it’s put together.

well, it’s got a motor, right??
