i was listening to an interview the other day where he mentioned portishead. totally blew my mind, that a hip hop singer would even know who portishead is… half the people reading this are probably like who the fuck?
well, nothing K West does ‘blows my mind’ but ill give him alittle credit, hes got some cool stuff. i like when he does stuff w/ Kweli, Blackthought, Common etc…but there is alot of stuff of his that i dont think is anything special. im not a huge fan of the new cd. its not terrible but i dunno…maybe im just sick of his stuff, or maybe the other one is just better. i just didnt really latch on to anything on the new one. ill have to give it some time tho.
i think i just like him, because it does not sound the same as every other rapper and I can actually understand him when he talks… dunno.
haha. ya i hear you on that. i like that too. sometimes his flow/delivery seems the same on every song to me tho. also i find the ‘forever, for eva, eva …’ thing on that diamonds song very annoying already…seems too much like a rip-off of something Outkast said.
i got a “pirated” copy of it a few months ago, but neither diamonds or golddigger were on it. what i heard was pretty good. i’m anxious to hear the real thing.
every line starts high, ends low, same cadence everytime… i’ve noticed that too, at least on his first CD and the few songs from this one :dunno:

Kanye can make some beats but I would really rather jam to Gangstarr, old Kweli, old Common,etc. I prefer conscious hip hop. Kanye is too commercial whether he thinks he isnt or not.
