I’ll Have Another takes it. I was going to bet on him because his name is relevant to my interests, but my friend from work beat me to it. Hit for $600.
Fucking nailed it this race. Stopped in OTB on the way to the bar Saturday. It was packed but I took Union rags for a 2-2-2, Dullahan for a 4-4-4 and I’ll Have Another 5-5-5.
Since the derby last year, i am 4-4 on the winners in the triple crown.
Remember a five-year stretch of the 1970s, there were three of them: Secretariat in 1973, Seattle Slew in 1977 and Affirmed in 1978? … Was anyone on here even born yet? Lol
Because he wants to see a triple crown so he wants to change the rules?
Secretariat’s run in the 70s only it and one other horse ran all 3 crown races.
This baby culture our country has bread is now bleeding over into sports. Pretty soon we will see athletes saying that the game is too intense so records should still count translated to the current game and not the past. Maybe Cal Ripken, Jr.'s record is too hard now so we should make the new record 1,500 games in a row.
Oh please, just stop with the slippery slope bullshit. It’s tiresome.
I honestly never knew that there was so much variability to the field in these races. Just because I see some validity to his argument that’s it’s easier to win one race than all three(is that even debatable?) doesn’t mean I think they should necessarily change the rules.
The triple crown is a horse that proves to be the best on all 3 tracks of different distances. I am not sure how only allowing a horse in the first race to enter the last 2 would keep the fame of the triple crown as highly exclusive as it is. The past winners were the best. Watch some of the races and they won by 20+ lengths which was huge in the Belmont. California Chrome was a good horse in the field but was no where near what the past ones ran. I think Secretariat won by 30 some lengths which broke the previous record of length of win of something like 24 lengths. It was huge and not even fair if you watch it.
The guy is a sore loser…he pushed the rules to get the damn nose strip approved…think if any of those horses who hadn’t run and won the other 2 races wanted to use it they would have been allowed…I doubt it.
sound like the guy wants it run like nascar or something
I’m a firm believer that the reason why he haven’t had a triple crown winner in ages is because they push horses to run earlier and earlier. Stakes are higher, with corporate sponsorships and greedy owners/trainers. That causes more injuries, more breakdowns, and earlier retirement for the horses. It’s sad and disgusting.
