King of the Streets - WNY Street Car Shootout

That was a 2nd gen rx7 Joe. Stock 5.3 long block, stock t56, 78mm turbo, ~750rwhp, 3rd pass ever in that car he went 9.8@155+ I was impressed. He also weighed it before he left. Believe it was 277x lbs with a full fuel cell. Super cool dude to shoot the shit with. Also makes you think how fast Drew’s car was capable weighing almost the same with 200+ Hp and can get out of the hole and drive it as well.

Everyone ran good! The New Era truck is insane. Sounds like a mild mannered vehicle that gramps would drive, then it rips off an 11.90. I got about 20 videos to upload. Everyone had a good time that I saw.

in most cases mph = hp. et = tq.

would be nice to see what kind of times drews rx7 wouldve ran considering the torque it still had for a boosted car.

any results or videos of today?

edit. just saw joelsters post. what kind of truck does new era have?

2013 Sierra going 11.90

The ET is not from torque, it’s from how well the chassis is setup. A great drag chassis will launch very hard and put the car on the bumper, but the mph will seem soft relative to the ET. That is the sign of a well setup car. I look at Stock Eliminator drag cars that run 10.40’s at 124mph with 1.28 sixty foot times. Torque didn’t do that, the whole car is working super, to get that ET.

i realize chassis setup is huge (well everything lol), however hp/tq curves do make a difference on the top end. in most cases if you take two cars, same chassis setup, same weight, one motor having more hp and less tq, the other having less hp and more tq, youll see the hp car runs a slower et with a higher mph and the torque car a quicker et and less mph. its physics.

btw, nice pass on the 10.15. going for 9’s next year?

oh and  on the sierra.

Looked like a great time!

I had fun today. I’ll definitely look to do it again next year. I wish I brought a GoPro. Personal best on what I think was too small of a slick. 11.132 @ 129.58

Congrats man. Nice meeting you guys. Your car rocked out.

Thanks. I’m not a big drag racer but I had fun. You Buffalo guys definitely came with quite a few quick cars

Funny…forgot about this, but had prior plans to head to my folks’ place for football anyway.

Well, forgot about it until the gf and I were driving South on Transit, right around Mighty, and I look in my rearview, saw three Mustangs, and one certain blue Camaro just about pull front wheels off the ground during a quick launch.

Sounded like a great turnout.

LOL, it was a picture perfect day for a cruise out to the racetrack, we got a cpl rolls in on the way out.
I went against the rule of making change’s to the car b/4 a race, but upgraded my rear shocks to dble adjustable’s w/the idea I could get them dialed in after a few pass’es, well the car hooks better, I created a new problem, I can stay in the throttle, b/c it’s going to the sky!!

Congrat’s to FourEyed, ur new “NYSpeed” fastest street car, he’ll correct me if I’m wrong, I believe he went 8.85@154, we had a nice 5-10mph tailwind, & the DA was about 1200 for the day.

Now post up them wheelie vids!!

Congrats FourEyed. Car was crazy fast. All hail the king!

Super fun day. I ran a new personal best of 10.23 @ 135. I’m getting closer to 9s with my 6 speed lol. The cruise was a great time. Choda even provided some road kill lol

The roll on the way there was awesome. I’ll have to upload that video of you two, I think Joe went 155 and that wheelie was ridiclious that you did lol. Also the steaks were good, they got grilled last night at Choda’s. Overall great event and awesome that many people went home with a new personal best.

<- was sick in bed :frowning:

Looked like great weather too!

"Thanks guys…having a lot of traction problems coming out of the hole. I want to upgrade to 31 spline axels this winter im still on a stock 28spline diff. I kinda feathered it out of the hole and still was spinning in 2nd but not as bad as my other runs. I was on 14psi on 27x10.5 radials and a full tank of gas. I am also kinda worried about the stock t56 so i wasnt shifting too fast, i think it has low 9s at 160 in her still. This was my 3rd pass with it ever at the stack so im still trying to learn the launch.

Still on the stock lm7 with stock 706 heads 3 layer headgasket. aftermarket springs and pushrods and a gt2-3 cam. Im running around 20-21psi now."

Unreal.
